Hey Wa! Ever wondered how to use Wikipedia safely and effectively as a learning tool in class?
Join us for a 2-day hands-on session on Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom.
The Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom program promotes a critical engagement with Wikipedia that allows teachers to leverage its use as a pedagogical tool. Through a collaboratively-developed curriculum, teachers explore and reflect on the different features that make Wikipedia a valuable ally to their classroom practice. A set of complementing synchronous training sessions allows teachers to collaborate with experienced instructors and share their questions, learn from global experiences, and connect with like-minded peers.

On Sunday, March 8, 2026 we had our maiden Wikipedia workshop at University of Education, Winneba where members of the Wa Municipal Students Union (WAMSU) were introduced to Waali Wikipedia (incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/wlx). Wiki Loves Ramadan 2026 is an annual global contest aimed at documenting and sharing the diverse customs and traditions observed during the month of Ramadan. WLR 2026 is to build a comprehensive and multilingual repository of knowledge about Ramadan, showcasing the diversity of its observances across the world. This effort aims to enhance cultural understanding, foster pride in local traditions, and strengthen the representation of Islamic communities on Wikimedia platforms. This will focus on
1. Documenting cultural traditions, rituals, and culinary practices during Ramadan.
2. Highlighting places of worship and community events.
3. Creating and improving biographies of notable Islamic historical figures.
4. Encouraging multilingual contributions across 26 Wikimedia projects, including Wikipedia, WikiCommons, Wikivoyage, and Wikibooks.
