Brief profile of your nominee Dr. Charles Hayfron-Benjamin for Education

Charles is a medical specialist, university lecturer, published author and entrepreneur.. Driven by this mission, he first modeled the path by distinguishing himself as an excellent medical doctor and educator. Voted by his peers as the Best Medical Doctor (Department of Anaesthesia category) during the 2016 Korle Bu Teaching Hospital awards ceremony, and receiving the University of Ghana Faculty Development Grant in the same year, Charles continues to excel in medical practice and education. Recently, Charles and a team of medical specialists from the University of Ghana Medical School, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the Vanderbilt University (USA) conceived and implemented a program that resulted in a dramatic reduction in the rates of deaths among pregnant women with sickle cell disease and their newborns.
