Students preparing for the July 2026 examinations of the Institute of Chartered Accountants-Ghana must begin their preparation with a clear strategy and strong commitment. Professional examinations require not only intelligence but also discipline, consistency, and effective study habits.

One of the major challenges students face is effective learning. The ICAG syllabus is broad and technical, making it difficult for students who study without proper guidance. Attending structured tuition helps students understand complex topics, practice examination-style questions, and receive clarification on difficult areas.

Another important factor is time management. Many candidates combine work with studies, making it essential to develop a realistic study timetable. Allocating specific hours for revision, practice questions, and class participation ensures steady progress before the exams.

Students must also invest in the right study materials. Recommended textbooks, revision kits, and past examination questions are critical for understanding the examination format and expectations. Using the correct materials helps candidates focus on examinable areas and avoid wasting time on irrelevant content.

Equally important is attentiveness during tuition. Active participation, note-taking, and asking questions significantly improve comprehension and retention.

This is why joining the Universal Institute for Professional Development (UIPD) is highly beneficial. UIPD provides structured tuition, experienced facilitators, updated materials, and a supportive learning environment designed to help ICAG students overcome challenges and successfully pass their July 2026 examinations.

Many professional students pursuing Accountancy at the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), often struggle to choose the right course combination. This confusion can slow down their progress and make the journey to qualification more difficult than it needs to be. However, selecting the right combination of subjects can significantly improve understanding and increase the chances of passing the examinations more quickly.

For Level 2 students, recommended combinations align closely in content and concepts. These include pairing Financial Reporting (FR) with Public Sector Accounting and Finance (PSAF), Management Accounting (MA) with Financial Management (FM), and Audit and Assurance (AA) with Principles of Taxation (PT). Students may also consider taking three related subjects together, such as FR, PSAF and AA, or MA, FM and PT.

At Level 3, strong combinations include Advanced Audit and Assurance (AAA) with Corporate Reporting (CR), as well as Strategic Case Study (SCS) with Advanced Taxation (ATX).

The reason for these combinations is that many topics overlap. For example, Question 2 in AAA often relates to standards covered in CR, while Question 4 in MA typically draws concepts from FM. Similarly, FR and PSAF both focus heavily on reporting standards, often carrying significant marks.

Choosing the right combination can therefore enhance understanding, reduce study pressure, and help students pass the ICAG examinations more efficiently.

Smart Preparation for ICAG Exams
With only 12 days left to write the ICAG professional examination, this is not the time for panic but the time for precision, discipline, and smart preparation. Professional exams are not just about hard work; they are about strategic preparation, mental readiness, and exam technique.

1. Shift from Reading to Revision

At this stage, avoid starting entirely new topics unless absolutely necessary. Focus on:

Reviewing key concepts
Practicing past questions
Strengthening weak areas
Revising technical standards and frameworks

Professional exams test application, not memorization. Understanding how to apply principles to practical scenarios is critical

2. Practice Past Questions Under Timed Conditions
The ICAG examination demands:
Speed
Accuracy
Structured presentation

Simulate exam conditions. Time yourself. Write full answers. Evaluate your structure and depth. The more you practice under exam pressure, the more confident you become.
