Have a skin issue? Hereโs a handy image to use to assess the problem.
The skin, our bodyโs largest organ, can be affected by a wide variety of conditionsโsome mild, others more serious.
Common skin issues include acne, which results from clogged pores and can lead to pimples and cysts, and eczema, a chronic condition marked by itchy, inflamed rashes. Other frequently seen problems are psoriasis, which causes red, scaly patches; rosacea, known for facial redness and bumps; and hives, sudden raised welts triggered by allergies or stress.
These conditions often appear with symptoms like rashes, flaking, or bumps, and while some are temporary, others may require long-term care.
Beyond these, infections also affect the skin. Bacterial infections like cellulitis involve painful swelling and warmth; fungal infections such as ringworm or athleteโs foot thrive in moist areas; and viral infections like shingles cause painful rashes from dormant viruses. More serious concerns include skin cancer, where abnormal cells grow and may spread, and autoimmune-related issues like alopecia areata, which causes patchy hair loss, and vitiligo, where skin loses pigment. Recognizing the symptoms and seeking early medical attention is key to managing these diverse skin conditions effectively.

Dear Members of the University Community,
Two of our Level 100 students at the Nyankpala Campus recently suffered severe injuries in a tragic gas explosion.
They are bravely fighting through surgeries and rehabilitatio, but the cost of their recovery is overwhelming.
This is our moment to show what it truly means to be a UDS family. Your support, no matter how small, can help ease their pain and give them hope for a full recovery.

Letโs come together to help our students heal because at UDS, we lift one another.

๐จ The FDA Ghana has revoked the marketing authorization for Omama Herbal Mixture and hereโs why:
1. Omama Herbal Mixture was originally registered with the FDA as a herbal product indicated for malaria and loss of appetite.
2. However, laboratory analysis revealed that the product had been adulterated with conventional medicines such as Paracetamol, Diazepam, Metronidazole and Niacinamide.
3. Since the product was registered as a herbal preparation, it must not contain any of these conventional pharmaceutical ingredients.
4. Two of the adulterated ingredients: Diazepam (an anxiolytic) and Metronidazole (an antibiotic) are prescription-only medicines and should only be taken under medical supervision.
You can imagine the potential harm when people consume such a product unknowingly.
5. The FDA is advising the public to report any individuals, pharmacies or OTC medicine sellers (OTCMS) still offering Omama Herbal Mixture for sale to the nearest FDA office.
6. Please share this information, especially with our parents and grandparents to help protect them.
