Challenges for Prayer
Uzbekistan is the strategic key to Central Asia, hence the intensifying
struggle between the post-Soviet regime and the Islamist
movements. The government’s “iron fist” policy is not deterring
thousands of jobless young men from joining these movements. But
much of the population is torn between these two and tired of the
poverty, corruption and failure to progress. Pray for genuine change,
reform and leadership that demonstrates uprightness and governs for
the sake of the people. Pray that in the midst of the struggle, many
may find true peace that only Jesus can give.
Tashkent is the Islamic capital of Central Asia in terms of both numbers and
influence. Islam is more a part of the Uzbek cultural identity than it is a
faithfully practiced religion; folk/occult practices are deeply tied into the beliefs
of mostly the rural Uzbeks. Since a burst of Islamic activity soon after
independence, the government has reined in most Islamic missionaries and
mosque-buildings and tightly controls and monitors all Islamic activity.

Challenges for Prayer
China remains officially atheist, and Communist Party
members number well over 70 million. But the Christian
population has eclipsed this number (it is also far outstripped
by Chinese Buddhists). Increasing numbers of Party members
are believers. Pray that the atheism promoted for so long –
and now so assiduously propagated in the education system
– will finally be revealed as hollow and deceptive lies. Pray
also that all followers of Christ working in state structures
might walk faultlessly and be a redemptive force within the
government.

Jesus said, "In life, you will have difficulties." He acknowledged that we’re going to have challenges; everything is not going to be perfect. He went on to say, I have the answer, "but be of good cheer." He didn’t say be discouraged, be upset, be sad, be offended. In the tough times, you need your joy. Joy is what gives you strength. The scripture says in Deuteronomy 33:25, “As your days are, so shall your strength be.” This means your strength will always be equivalent to what you need. If something goes wrong, you’re going to have the strength to deal with it. There is grace for every stage of life. When you understand how much God loves you and that He has a great plan for your life, there is no outside circumstance that can change your inner confidence. You can stand through any storm when you’re standing with God!
God wouldn’t have given you a promise if He didn’t know how to bring it to pass. Shake off the doubt and get your fire back. It’s time to start believing again. God is calling you into new levels. He’s calling you into abundance, freedom and victory. Get in agreement with Him, and you will see that promise fulfilled. When you’re not moved by your circumstances, that takes the power away from the enemy. If you don’t have to have your way, he can’t control you. You’re showing that your life is in God’s hands.

Realizing that God is with you, helping you along the way, provides the courage you need to face the future boldly, knowing that you truly can overcome any obstacle in the strength and power of the Lord.
