A KING HAS GONE HOME
SRC PAYS TRIBUTE TO NAA GARIBA II

With grief in our hearts and tears in our eyes, the Students’ Representative Council of Tamale Technical University bows our heads to mourn the passing of our father and King, Ndan Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari II – Naa Gariba II.

Born in 1939.
He ruled first in Kpunkpano.
He served with dignity in Savelugu as Paramount Chief.
In 2019, he ascended the great and ancient skin to become the 41st Yaa Naa of Dagbon.

In 2026, he has joined his ancestors.

Today our sorrow is deep. Our grief is heavy.
But we refuse to let his name die.
May his name never be forgotten. May his name continue to live.

Gbuɣunli, the Lion King of Dagbon 🦁🦁
We will continue to walk by your guidance.
We will continue to live by your thoughts of peace, unity, and strength.

To the Royal Family and the entire Dagbon Kingdom, we stand with you in this moment of pain.
Rest well, Great King. Your people will remember you.
