The Ghana Education Service (GES), under the leadership of the Ministry of Education and with the support of its partners, is pleased to announce the nationwide rollout of the 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗘𝗖𝗘) 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲.

This landmark initiative reaffirms the Government’s commitment to strengthening foundational learning and ensuring that every Ghanaian child receives quality early childhood education that nurtures creativity, curiosity, critical thinking, and holistic development.

Research and global best practice consistently demonstrate that children learn most effectively when they are actively engaged in meaningful, enjoyable, and age-appropriate learning experiences. The harmonised play-based approach therefore places the child at the centre of learning, creating opportunities for exploration, discovery, collaboration, and problem-solving.

As part of the nationwide implementation, GES undertakes comprehensive capacity-building activities to ensure the successful delivery of the programme across the country. The initiative includes:

- Training of National Officers;

- Training of all 16 Regional Early Childhood Education Coordinators;

- Training of all 261 District Early Childhood Education Coordinators;

- Training of all 261 Deputy Directors in charge of Supervision;

- Training of all 261 District Training Officers; and

- Training of more than 30,000 Kindergarten teachers nationwide.

Through this large-scale intervention, the programme is expected to positively impact approximately 𝟭.𝟮 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, laying a strong foundation for improved learning outcomes and lifelong success.

The Ghana Education Service will continue to ensure that quality education begins from the earliest stages of a child’s development. By equipping educators with the knowledge and skills required to deliver effective play-based learning, GES is taking a significant step towards transforming early childhood education and shaping the future of Ghana’s young learners.

GES expresses its appreciation to all stakeholders and development partners whose collaboration continues to support efforts aimed at improving educational outcomes for children across the country.

Management and Staff of the Ghana Education Service – Western Region today surprised the Regional Director of Education, Mr. Emmanuel Essuman, with a special birthday celebration at the Regional Education Office.

The event, which was attended by staff and some Heads of Schools, was a demonstration of appreciation for his leadership, dedication, and service to education in the Western Region.

In his remarks, Mr. Essuman expressed his gratitude for the gesture and encouraged all staff to continue working diligently for the advancement of education and the benefit of humanity.
