🌟 Alumni Spotlight | Excellence Beyond Borders

The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering proudly celebrates the remarkable achievement of Mr. Jacob Senior Atta Owusu, a distinguished alumnus of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR).

Mr. Owusu graduated from UENR in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He served as a Teaching and Research Assistant in the department from 2021 to September 2023 before pursuing an MSc in Environmental Engineering at Donghua University, Shanghai, China.

His research focused on thermal and combustion pollutants, emission control technologies, and clean energy conversion using advanced nanomaterials. During his master's studies, he successfully developed two novel nanomaterials for the catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides (NOₓ) into nitrogen gas (N₂) and contributed to research on coal tar reforming for hydrogen fuel production.

His research achievements include two first author Q1 journal publications and six co-authored publications in internationally renowned journals, including Fuel, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, ACS Catalysis, and Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering.

Mr. Owusu defended his master's thesis with Distinction, earning an outstanding score of 92.5/100, one of the highest attained by an international student at Donghua University. In recognition of his exceptional academic performance, impactful research contributions, and dedication to clean energy innovation, he was honoured with the Excellent International Graduate Award for 2026.

The Department congratulates Mr. Jacob Senior Atta Owusu on this outstanding milestone and wishes him continued success as he advances the frontiers of sustainable engineering and clean energy research.
