Most bus stops in Accra have been taken over by young, able-bodied men who load passengers into trotro vehicles and collect fares from drivers, even though the vehicles already have conductors (mates). Many of them operate without paying taxes, yet some reportedly earn more than the vehicle owners.

Unfortunately, their activities often create confusion at bus stops, lead to heated arguments, delay passengers, and sometimes contribute to disorder.

While some may argue they help organize loading and reduce waiting time, others see them as a growing nuisance.
