GAUA-UESD Honours Dr. Padikor Madjitey @ Retirement Send-Off Ceremony
The University of Environment and Sustainable Development, Chapter of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) has held a send-off ceremony in honour of Dr. Padikor Madjitey, a Senior Assistant Registrar at the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, following her retirement. The colourful ceremony, attended by members of the Union, took place at the Auditorium, Multipurpose Building of the University.
Dr. Madjitey served in various offices of the University, including the International Programmes Office and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat, since the commencement of the University’s operations in 2021. Until her retirement, she remained committed to the advancement of the University through her diligent service, mentorship, and contributions to institutional development. She also served on a number of committees, including the Commencement Lecture and HOPE Road Shows Committees.
In her brief address, the President of GAUA-UESD, Ms. Cynthia Oduro, described the occasion as memorable and praised the retiree for her dedication to service, firmness in decision-making, and mentorship. She encouraged members to emulate her professionalism and commitment to duty.

Solidarity messages from colleagues described Dr. Madjitey as a mother figure who was always ready to mentor, teach, guide, direct, empathise, and ensure that everyone carried out their duties with a high level of professionalism. They noted that her impact and memories would remain with all who worked with her.

Responding, Dr. Madjitey expressed mixed emotions as she reflected on her years of active service. She noted that Ecclesiastes 9:10 had been a guiding scripture throughout her working life: “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.”She encouraged members to always give their best in whatever they do and remain dedicated and professional in the discharge of their duties.

Dr. Madjitey was presented with a citation and a cash donation in appreciation of her invaluable service to the University and the Union.

Group 3 Crowned Champions of GAUA-UESD All-Male Cooking Competition

Group 3, led by Mr. Daniel Ofori-Mintah with Assistant Mr. Emmanuel Ayew-Sampson, showcased exceptional teamwork and culinary creativity to emerge winners of the fiercely contested all-male cooking competition.

The group, made up of Stephen Akpor Adjei, Baffour Awuah Kwabi, George Akyen Pobee, Sampson Amponsah Atiako, David Nkrumah, Prince Adu Anaafi, Festus Vincent Otabil, Michael Bosomtwe, Mensah Richard, Akwasi Afram Adjekum, and Mr. Eric Kofi Aseidu, combined their unique cooking skills to outshine three other groups in the competition.

The event, held on Thursday, September 11th, 2025, formed part of the activities marking the Maiden Week Celebration of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) Chapter, Somanya.

The spirited contest ended with Group 3 lifting the coveted trophy and earning the well-deserved bragging rights.

The 2nd Day of the GAUA-UESD Week Celebration lineup included a cooking competition featuring the men of the Union, alongside health screening sessions and fun games, all aimed at promoting unity, wellness and relaxation among members.

We also had an inspiring capacity-building session with Dr. Peter Kwesi Terkper and marked the day with a symbolic Tree Planting. 🌳
