CELEBRATING A DEDICATED SERVICE

The Management of the South Tongu District Directorate of Education extends special congratulations to Miss Benedicta Boade on her retirement from active service.

Until her retirement this year, Miss Boade served diligently as the KG Teacher at Agordomi EP/DA Basic School.

Born on 1st July, 1968, she began her teaching journey on 1st October, 1988 as a Pupil Teacher at Agordomi EP/DA School. For 36 years, she has nurtured young minds and laid a strong foundation for countless children of Agordomi and Adutor in our District.

To bid her farewell, the School recently held a brief ceremony in her honour to appreciate her years of commitment, hard work, and love for children.

Miss Boade, we say AYIKOO! 👏 Thank you for your service to South Tongu and to Ghana Education Service.

We wish you good health, joy, and fulfillment in this new chapter of life.❤️

SOGASCO Basic School Holds Open Day, Appeals for Support to Renovate Learning Facilities.

Sogakope, 2nd July 2026 – SOGASCO Basic School today held a successful Open Day ceremony under the theme: “Bright Minds Need Bright Learning Spaces: Renovating SOGASCO Basic School for Better Learning.”

The event brought together education stakeholders, traditional leaders, parents, and students to deliberate on improving the school’s infrastructure.

Madam Celestine S. A. Korsi-Agordo (Mrs.), the District Director of Education for South Tongu, was the Guest Speaker for the occasion. In a speech read on her behalf by the District Public Relations Officer, she reaffirmed the essence of providing safe and inclusive learning environments in line with SDG 4, and called on all stakeholders to lend their maximum support in the school's quest for renovation.

The Chairman for the occasion, Mr. Maxwell Amekpor, who also serves as Board Chairman of Sogakofe Senior High School, used his acceptance speech to highlight the urgent need to resource SOGASCO Basic School to improve learning outcomes.

The programme was well attended by dignitaries from far and near, including current and former officers of the District Education Directorate, traditional leaders, heads of neighbouring schools, parents, and students.

Pupils entertained guests with poetry recitals, choreographic displays, and cultural dances, showcasing the school’s talent beyond academics.

In a key resolution from the event, the school is appealing for financial and material support from the Central Government, NGOs, CSOs, traditional leaders, philanthropists, old students, parents, and individuals to fund the renovation of classrooms, a staff common room, and an ICT centre.

SOUTH TONGU DISTRICT TO HOST 2026 VOLTA REGIONAL INTER-DISTRICT BASIC SCHOOLS FESTIVAL

The South Tongu District Education Directorate wishes to inform the general public that the District will host the 2026 Volta Regional Inter-District Basic Schools Festival from 9th to 15th August 2026 at the DASTECH Sports Complex, Sogakope.

In preparation for the regional event, the Directorate will organize its Inter-Zonal Basic Schools Sports Festival from 7th to 10th July 2026, also at the DASTECH Sports Complex. The purpose of the zonal festival is to select and prepare a competitive district team to represent South Tongu at the regional level.

The events to be contested include team games such as volleyball, handball, table tennis, soccer, and netball, as well as almost all track and field events in athletics.

All heads of public basic schools, teachers, pupils, parents, and sports stakeholders are encouraged to support and participate actively in both festivals. This initiative forms part of efforts to unearth sporting talent, promote physical education, and foster unity among basic schools in the Volta Region.

Comboni Technical Institute Commissions New Gate and Solar Energy System

SOGAKOPE, VOLTA REGION – 9th June 2026
The District Director of Education, Madam Celestine S.A. Korsi-Agordo (Mrs), on Tuesday, 9th June 2026, joined other dignitaries at Comboni Technical Institute, Sogakope, to commission the school’s new main gate and a newly installed solar pv energy system.

The ceremony was officiated by a high-powered delegation led by the Catholic Bishop of the zone, the Volta Regional Director of Ghana TVET Service, and the Principal of Comboni Technical Institute. Also present were officers from the Ghana Fire Service, traditional leaders, staff, and students of the institute.

In his address, the Volta Regional Director of Ghana TVET Service praised the initiative as a model for technical and vocational institutions, emphasizing that modern infrastructure and green energy are critical to equipping learners with 21st-century skills.

The Catholic Bishop, in a brief address before blessing the projects, urged students to take responsibility for maintaining the facilities and to uphold the values of discipline and stewardship.

In his welcome address, the Principal of the Institute, Mr. Peter Adzimah expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the projects. He stated that the solar pv energy system would not only cut operational costs but also serve as a live demonstration facility for electrical and renewable energy students.

The event was marked by cultural performances, brass band music, cadet performance from students and a tour of the solar installation. Traditional leaders present pledged their continued support for the growth of COMBOTECH.

Comboni Technical Institute is a Catholic-run TVET institution in Sogakope known for training youth in technical and vocational skills.
