Betrayal of Trust: Condemning the Sale of Community Land

In a shocking display of betrayal, it is alleged that “the wife of our esteemed chief” has callously sold off land intended for the community's park. This reprehensible act not only undermines the trust bestowed upon our leaders but also deprives future generations of vital communal space.

The decision to sell the land for personal gain highlights a grave disregard for the needs and aspirations of the community. It reflects a mindset that prioritizes individual interests over the collective welfare of the people. As youth activists, we stand firm in our condemnation of such self-serving actions that erode the fabric of our society.

This incident sheds light on the systemic failures and non-performance of the municipal assembly in safeguarding the interests of the community. It underscores the urgent need for transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership in governance.

As youth activists, we demand justice for the mismanagement of community resources and call for immediate action to rectify this injustice. The sale of community land must be reversed, and efforts to establish the Astro turf must be supported and expedited. Our community deserves leaders who prioritize the common good and uphold the trust placed in them. Anything less is a betrayal of our collective aspirations.

LETTER TO OUR LEADERS (SALAGA)

I stand before you today not as a mere voice, but as the collective outcry of a community shackled in darkness by the incompetence of our so-called leaders. Our streets are haunted by shadows, our homes engulfed in darkness, and our aspirations drowned in the abyss of perpetual blackout. How long must we endure this torment? How long must we cower in the shadows of neglect?

Our leaders, if they can even be called that, have failed us miserably. Their promises are but echoes of empty rhetoric, their actions a symphony of incompetence. They sit comfortably in their ivory towers, indifferent to the plight of those they swore to serve. Shame on them! Shame on their hollow words and feeble excuses!

We are a community held hostage by the darkness, prisoners in our own homes. Children cannot study, businesses cannot thrive, and hope dwindles with every flicker of a dying candle. Is this the legacy they wish to leave behind? A legacy of darkness and despair?

I refuse to accept such mediocrity! We demand accountability, we demand action, and we demand it now! No community should be subjected to such indignity, no citizen should live in perpetual darkness. It is time to rise up, to demand the light that is rightfully ours!

Let our voices be heard like thunder, shaking the foundations of complacency. Let us stand united in our quest for justice, for it is only through unity that we can vanquish the darkness that shrouds our community. We will not rest until every corner of our streets is bathed in the warm glow of electricity, until we can go 24 hours without the fear of lights out.

To our leaders, I say this: your days of apathy are numbered. The dawn of accountability is upon us, and we will no longer tolerate your incompetence. Step up or step aside, for the people have spoken, and we will not be silenced until our voices are heard and our demands met.

Thank you

Gro Harlem Brundtland posits that “health is central to development”. It's obvious that health is human. A healthy society is a productive one.

Sadly, a woman from Salaga lost her life this afternoon at TTH. I was present when a brother, who is a health professional, had a call confirming an accident. He urged them to bring the victims back to Tamale. They had the accident while returning to Salaga. I actually didn't know that it was that severe.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the woman passed away. While the others were unconscious until this evening. Only one could manage his speech.

Apparently, they had to travel all the way to Tamale mainly for X-ray. I mean to patronize the service of X-ray. Reason is, there's no X-ray machine in the entire salaga for the past 5years or more. And so, residents travel to either tamale or Yeji to do x-ray.

Management of the hospital is not doing anything about it. They seem to be more interested in instigating their watchmen to attack and harass patient relatives.

And our leaders too aren't doing much about it. But then, what is the Municipal hospital, doing with its Internal Generated Fund (IGF)??

This reminds me. The former Mp presented an x-ray machine to the hospital. I'm told it's faulty. What's the hospital doing about it? Can't the hospital use its IGF to repair it?
