International adoption from Ghana is extremely difficult and for good reason!
Notes on not adopting an orphan in Ghana As much as it hurts to think that I will soon leave him, I know it is for the best.

Often, we forget to check how we are feeling before dealing with our children. As a result, we may not be our best selves in our interactions. It is okay to tell our children that we will answer them later. Sometimes that is better than how we could otherwise respond.

Since we last posted, have your children voiced their concerns? Ghana is still seeing more and more cases, yet no more lockdown. Invite them to tell you what is worrying them. They may be worried about the same things as you. They may also be worried about other things. Help them be less afraid.

Today is the UN's International Day for Biological Diversity and the topic for the year is "Our solutions are in nature."
You may be wondering why I am bringing this up. I mean this is the page for a school, so what does biological diversity, and more specifically, nature have to do with education?
Directly? Nothing. Indirectly, it all depends which direction you want to take. In some countries, forest schools have been popping up, something that brings us (everyone) back to a time before there was formal education. Research has shown that children benefit from natural settings in education and even more so by learning through play in natural settings.
Is this something we can see in Ghana? Of course we still want and need to have buildings for each school, but how can we incorporate nature more frequently into our daily educational routines?
Here is an article taking a different direction, written by a Ghanaian who got himself a university education and is now teaching others!
Our solutions are in nature: Ghana must protect, promote and respect its natural areas 2020-05-21 -
