LET ME TELL YOU THIS.
People don’t always give because they are rich. Sometimes, they give simply because they choose to be kind.
So, the next time someone shows you kindness whether by giving you money, offering you support, opening a door for you, or helping you when you need it. Do not receive it with a sense of entitlement, it's a bad habit.
Don’t think, “I deserve this.”
Think, “Someone chose to do this for me.”
There is a difference.
We live in a world where people sometimes feel entitled to what belongs to someone else, but the truth is that nobody owes us their resources simply because we are in need.
When someone reaches deep into their pocket, savings, or personal resources to help you, appreciate it. You may never know what they had to sacrifice to be able to give.
Sometimes, people go through their own struggles silently just to make life a little easier for someone else.
Money rarely comes without sacrifice.
Behind someone's money may be years of hard work, sleepless nights, missed opportunities, responsibilities, disappointments, and personal sacrifices.
So when someone gives you, don’t only see what they gave.
See the sacrifice behind the giving.
And when someone doesn’t give, don’t immediately call them stingy, selfish, wicked, or uncaring.
They may be fighting battles they have never told you about.
The fact that you are comfortable sharing your struggles does not mean that everyone else is comfortable sharing theirs.
Everyone is carrying something.
Your need may be money.
Someone else's need may be a child.
You may be praying for a job.
Someone else may be praying for good health.
You may be desperate to travel abroad.
Someone else may be praying for the opportunity to return home safely.
Never assume that your struggle is the greatest struggle in the room.
We are all in need only that our needs are different.
So, when you ask someone for help and they cannot give, don’t take it as an insult. Don’t let disappointment turn into bitterness.
Learn to accept “No” with the same maturity with which you would accept “Yes.”
And when someone gives, appreciate them genuinely.
Not because you believe you were entitled to it, but because they had a choice and they chose kindness.
That is why gratitude matters.
That is why humility matters.
That is why kindness matters.
And above all, remember the words of Scripture:
“Give, and it shall be given unto you.” (Luke 6:38)
Let us become people who give when we can, help when we can, encourage when we can, and show kindness without making others feel indebted to us.
Because sometimes, the greatest blessing is not receiving.
It is having enough heart to give.
And perhaps the deepest lesson is this:
Givers may not always have everything, but a generous heart understands that whatever we have is an opportunity to make someone else's journey a little easier.
Give when you can.
Receive with gratitude.
Ask without entitlement.
Accept refusal without bitterness.
And never judge someone else's life by what you can see.
Think deeply about this.
