3-YEAR HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA

The duration of the Diploma programme is two (3) years, and to gain admission to the programme, an applicant must satisfy the following minimum entry requirements:

a) SSSCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects from the following: Physics, Elective Mathematics, Chemistry, Building Construction, Wood/Metalwork, Technical Drawing/Engineering Science, Economics, Geography, Government, History, ICT, General Knowledge in Art, Communication Design, Agric Science, Sculpture, Ceramic Graphic Design and Painting.

b) WASSCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects from the following: Physics, Elective Mathematics, Chemistry, Building Construction, Wood/Metalwork, Technical Drawing/Engineering Science, Economics, Geography, Government, History, ICT, General Knowledge in Art, Communication Design, Agric Science, Sculpture, Ceramic Graphic Design and Painting.

c) GCE: Passes in three (3) subjects (at least one of the passes should be Grade D or better) at GCE ‘A’ Level, including Mathematics and any two from the following: Physics, Elective Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics, and Geography. In addition, the applicant must have credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, a science subject (for non-science students), and an Arts subject (for science students).

d) Mature Students: The applicant must be at least 25 years old and show proof of age with a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth, which is at least 5 years old at the time of application, with English and mathematics or SSSCE passes in Core English and Core Mathematics.
e) Construction Technician Course Part I (CTC 1) graduates can apply.

4-YEAR BTECH BUILDING TECHNOLOGY

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION OF STUDENTS:
The duration of the Bachelor of Technology programme is four (4) years, and to gain admission to the programme, an applicant must satisfy the following minimum entry requirements:
The section of the population likely to access the programme includes:

(a) SSSCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects from the following: Physics, Elective Mathematics, Chemistry, Building Construction, Wood/Metalwork, Technical Drawing/Engineering Science, Economics, Geography, Government, History, ICT, General Knowledge in Art, Communication Design, Agric Science, Sculpture, Ceramic Graphic Design and Painting.

(b) WASSCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects from the following: Physics, Elective Mathematics, Chemistry, Building Construction, Wood/Metalwork, Technical Drawing/Engineering Science, Economics, Geography, Government, History, ICT, General Knowledge in Art, Communication Design, Agric Science, Sculpture, Ceramic Graphic Design and Painting.

(c) Intermediate Certificate Holders: Credit Passes (Credit–Distinction) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) CTVET relevant trade subjects from the following: Construction Practices, Construction material processing (CMP), Blocklaying and Concreting, Carpentry and Joinery, Painting and Decorating, Construction Technology, Fundamentals of Designing and Drafting, Architectural Drafting, Technical Drawing, Plumbing and Gas Fitting, Tilling and Pass in Practical Work

MTECH CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY
Entry requirements for admission of students:
i.​BTech certificate holders with a minimum of Second Class (Lower) Division and relevant working experience.
ii.​A good first-degree holder with a minimum of Second Class (Lower) Division.
iii.​Candidates should have obtained a good first degree in the following fields: Building Technology, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Infrastructure Planning, Real Estate, Facilities Management, Interior Design Technology, Project Management, or any other relevant field.

2-YEAR TERTIARY DIPLOMA

Entry requirements for admission of students:

• Final C.T.C. II (old scheme) and C.T.C III (new scheme). Candidates with good passes in four written courses, namely Construction Practice, Applied Technology and Site Experience, Site Surveying, Measurement of Building Works, and three project works (Coursework Assessment), can apply to join level 200.
• Mature Students: The applicant must be at least 25 years old and show proof of age with a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth, which must be at least 5 years old at the time of application. The applicant must pass Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations conducted by KsTU and may have to attend and pass an interview. Evidence of work experience will be an added advantage.
• HND graduates in Building Technology, Civil Engineering, and Electrical Engineering can apply to join level 200. In addition, candidates with PASS must pass the selection examination and interview conducted by the Department.
• Technical/CTVET Holders: Credit Passes (Credit–Distinction) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) CTVET relevant trade subjects from the following: Construction Practices, Construction material processing (CMP), Blocklaying and Concreting, Carpentry and Joinery, Painting and Decorating, Construction Technology, Fundamentals of Designing and Drafting, Architectural Drafting, Technical Drawing, Plumbing and Gas Fitting, Tilling and Pass in Practical Work
• Foreign applicants’ certificates shall be referred to GTEC for verification and determination.
