us. The intention is to encourage and empower the youth to take control
of their own destiny by taking up particular responsibilities, and
to create their jobs by themselves. It’s about making use of the huge potential which all of NATURE pro-
vides for us at each moment in time; that is, to work with its gifts by using your very own hands, and thus establishing a firm connection and caring relationship with it. In this way a permanent livelihood can be assured, by growing your
own food and selling the surplus to others. Organic farming basically relies on a few simple guidelines:

- No pesticides or other chemical substances are used, only com-
pletely organic fertilization methods to guarantee the purity of
the crop and maintain the soil’s fertility

- No sophisticated machines are used, just a few simple tools and
a lot of manpower; nevertheless, the optimum in utilization of the
resources at hand is done by using the power of the elements itself (solar-, rain- and wind-energy and the energy which emerges from recycling processes)

- Ancient, yet highly up-to-date ways of farming are revived
by using the methods of PERMACULTURE, which are: organic fertili-zation, a sustainable treatment of the soil, and a circulatory use of energies. The aim of the Ashanti Green School is to increase the awareness
of our surroundings and to understand nature’s processes; to make
the optimum in usage of the resources at hand for one’s nutrition,
yet to preserve it for now and the generations to come. It’s about getting to know the various methods of agriculture and
doing research on food crops and medicinal plants. In the long run, it strives to enable people to grow their own food of a very high quality and purity; to be in control of their nutrition and thus stay healthy and contented, and to transform the lives of people by the power of nature.
