In celebration of World Engineering Day, observed globally on 4th March, the Faculty of Engineering (FoE) of Ho Technical University (HTU), in strategic partnership with the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE), organized a high-impact outreach program at Awudome Senior High School (AWUSCO) in Tsito.

The event, held under the theme "Smart Engineering for Sustainable Future through Innovation & Digitalization," sought to inspire the next generation of engineers by bridging the gap between academic theory and modern industrial practice.

The program commenced with a formal meeting between the University delegation and the Awudome SHS management team, led by the Headmistress, Madam Ernestina Doris A. Pe***na, and the Assistant Heads in charge of Academics, Administration, and Domestics.

The HTU team comprises the Dean of the Faculty, the Faculty Program Coordinator, the Faculty Officer, Engineering Lecturers, and the FoE Student Executive Body.

Addressing a large gathering of students, particularly those in the Science department, the team delivered extensive presentations on the importance of smart engineering, diverse engineering disciplines, and the circular economy. Students were further guided on career prospects within the industry and provided with a comprehensive HTU admission guide.

A significant highlight of the day was the intervention by the Women in Engineering (WinE) team, who challenged and encouraged female students to break traditional barriers by pursuing professional careers in engineering.

The session, which also featured representatives from the GhIE, concluded with an interactive open forum where students shared their concerns and perspectives on the future of the engineering profession.

This collaborative effort underlines the commitment of the Faculty of Engineering and the GhIE to fostering innovation and digital literacy among Ghanaian youth to ensure a sustainable future.
