REPORT ON JOSM TRAINING SESSION

Date: 17th June, 2026
Time: 3:00 PM
Venue: FSSE 102

Introduction

YouthMappers UEW organized a JOSM training session to equip members with basic knowledge of the software and prepare them for future mapping activities.

Activities

During the session, new members were assisted in installing JOSM on their laptops. Participants were also introduced to the software interface and some of its basic tools and functions. Questions relating to installation and usage were addressed to ensure that members could effectively use the software.

Outcome

The session was successful, as most new members were able to install JOSM successfully. Members also became familiar with the software environment and are now better prepared for subsequent practical training sessions.

Challenges Encountered

Some members experienced challenges during the installation process due to internet connectivity issues and laptop compatibility requirements. In addition, a few laptops had low battery levels, which affected participation. However, these challenges were managed with the assistance of facilitators, allowing the session to proceed successfully.

Conclusion

The training served as an important foundation for future mapping activities and helped improve members' readiness to participate in upcoming YouthMappers projects and training programs.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡ Happy Independence Day, Ghana!

Today we celebrate 69 years of freedom, resilience, and nation-building. At OpenStreetMap Ghana, we are proud to contribute to Ghana’s development by empowering communities with open mapping, open data, and collaborative technology.

Every road mapped, every community added, and every dataset improved helps make our country more visible, resilient, and prepared for the future. Through the dedication of our volunteers and partners, we continue to ensure that Ghana is well represented on OpenStreetMap; supporting disaster response, urban planning, research, and community development.

As we celebrate the spirit of independence, we are reminded that building Ghana is a shared responsibility. Together, we will keep mapping, innovating, and strengthening our communities.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡ Happy 69th Independence Day, Ghana!
