The YouthMappers UEW Chapter successfully organized a seminar on "GIS Beyond Lectures: The Skills in the Job Market" to expose students to the practical skills and opportunities available in the geospatial industry.
The seminar featured insightful presentations from Dr. Millicent, who demonstrated the application of GIS in the hydrological field, emphasizing its role in water resource management, flood analysis, and environmental planning.
Mr. Kwabena Danso shared his inspiring YouthMappers journey, highlighting how active participation in the chapter created valuable learning experiences and opened career opportunities in the geospatial industry.
Mr. Calvin introduced participants to Mapathons, explaining their importance in collaborative mapping, humanitarian response, and improving OpenStreetMap data. Mr. Isisah spoke about YouthMappers, outlining the chapter's mission, benefits, and the opportunities available to students through mapping, leadership, and community engagement.
The seminar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where participants gained valuable insights into career development and the expectations of employers in the GIS field.
