AFIGYA KWABRE NORTH SHINES IN SIGHT SINGING AND POETRY PERFORMANCE
The Ashanti Regional Creative Arts and Cultural Festival once again showcased the remarkable talents of learners from across the region, and Afigya Kwabre North Education Directorate had every reason to be proud.
One of the district's brightest moments came in the Sight Singing Competition, where Boateng Boachie Nhyira of Akom D/A JHS delivered an outstanding performance. With confidence, precision, and an impressive understanding of music, Nhyira answered every musical question with intelligence and composure, earning the admiration of patrons, adjudicators, and fellow contestants alike. His achievement reflects the dedication of both the learner and his coach, Mr. Christian Boachie, the District IPPD Coordinator, whose guidance played a significant role in preparing him for the competition.
The district also made a strong impression in the Poetry Performance category through Aida Fosu Afriyie, a final-year student of Amoako D/A JHS, popularly known on stage as Obaapa Akua Afriyie Siaw. Her performance was a masterclass in spoken word. She educated, entertained, and inspired the audience with exceptional confidence, expressive gestures, and captivating stagecraft. Every movement and facial expression complemented her delivery.
Aida performed "Momma Yɛmmu Kɔmpɔ", a thought-provoking poem written by Opemsour Nana Kwabena Adubofour, the District Cultural Coordinator. Her interpretation of the piece was both powerful and emotionally engaging. She placed third.
Nevertheless, she left the stage with her head held high, having demonstrated the quality, creativity, and confidence that define Afigya Kwabre North's young talents.
The festival was organised to identify outstanding performers to represent the Ashanti Region at the national level. We are delighted that Boateng Boachie Nhyira's exceptional performance in Sight Singing earned him the honour of representing the region.
Congratulations to both learners, their coaches, and the Afigya Kwabre North Education Directorate for continuing to nurture excellence in Creative Arts and Cultural Education. Their achievements serve as an inspiration to other young learners and reaffirm the district's commitment to developing talent through arts and culture.
