WHEN LITTLE WRONGS BECOME NORMAL: A WARNING TO OUR GENERATION
Human behaviour rarely collapses in a single day. Societies do not wake up suddenly corrupt, violent, or spiritually cold. Instead, decline begins with “little wrongs”—small compromises, behaviours we excuse, and attitudes we refuse to confront. Over time, these little wrongs gather weight, gain social acceptance, and eventually become the new normal. And when someone finally dares to correct them, such a person is branded an enemy, a troublemaker, or a self-righteous judge.
Why does this happen? And can this pattern be compared to what happened in S***m and Gomorrah?
1. Little Wrongs Grow Because We Are Comfortable With Them
Most “big sins” begin as small, seemingly harmless acts:
A little cheating
A little gossip
A little pride
A little dishonesty
A little moral compromise
At first, conscience whispers, “This is wrong.” But when we keep repeating the same behaviour, conscience becomes quiet. What used to disturb us now becomes normal.
Psychologists call this moral desensitization. The Bible calls it a seared conscience (1 Timothy 4:2).
As individuals become comfortable with small wrongs, society also begins to reshape its standards. What was once shameful becomes fashionable. What was once avoided becomes celebrated.
2. Society Accepts Wrong When Voices of Correction Go Silent
Wrong thrives not because evil is powerful, but because good people refuse to speak.
When parents, elders, pastors, teachers, and responsible citizens fail to correct small misbehaviours, the next generation assumes those actions are acceptable.
Silence becomes approval.
