In many communities, the absence of safe and accessible water does not affect everyone equally. Women and girls often bear the greatest burden. They walk long distances to fetch water, sacrifice time meant for education or economic activity, and face health and safety risks in the process. Where water is scarce or unsafe, inequality grows.

Access to clean and reliable water empowers women. It frees time, improves health, supports livelihoods, and opens doors to education and leadership.
