UPDATE TO ALL NEWLY TRAINED TEACHERS FROM BLACOE ON ENGAGEMENTS REGARDING GES RECRUITMENT PORTAL CHALLENGE.
The Alumni Executive Council wishes to update members on actions taken regarding the technical glitch that aftected applications to the recent GES recruitment portal.
Due to a system error, Bia Lamplighter College of Education was initially absent from the portal, and its graduates could not apply. By the time the issue was corrected and most graduates became aware, the intake quota had reportedly been exhausted.
To address this, the Alumni Union has:
1. Collated data on all affected graduates and submitted a formal complaint with the list to the Ministry of Education and GES.
2. Engaged the College Principal, who has since held discussions with relevant authorities. The Alumni President was briefed that the matter is receiving attention.
3. Communicated with the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana, TTAG for onward actions including petitioning the Presidency, Ministry of Education, GES, as well as the National Democratic Congress on the issue.
We want all newly tramed teachers to know that every necessary step has been taken at the highest levels to present our case. This situation was no fault of our trained teachers, and we are pursuing all avenues for redress.
We urge all affected newly trained teachers to remain steadfast. Our college is equally as important as all other Colleges of Education, and our graduates deserve equal opportunity. The Alumni Association remains committed to championing the cause of all old students of Bia Lamplighter College of Education and will provide further updates as received from the authorities.
Finally, we wish to submit that the Ghana Education Service (GES), together with all other relevant bodies, agencies, and institutions should ensure that Bia Lamplighter College of Education is always duly included in opportunities available to Ghanaian teachers and students. This is not a favor to us, but a right, as we are a recognized public College of Education with a proven track record.
Thank you.
Yours in service,
