The Back-to-School outreach by the Ghana Library Authority - Central Region, took the team to ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ ๐๐ฎ๐š๐ช๐ฎ๐ž ๐†๐ข๐ซ๐ฅ๐ฌ' ๐๐š๐ฌ๐ข๐œ ๐’๐œ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ, where the team had the opportunity to welcome the ๐Š๐ข๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ๐ ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ž๐ง ๐Ÿ & ๐Ÿ learners.

The team, led by the Central Regional Director, Nana Kwame Appiakubi, presented pencils and erasers to support the learners' everyday schoolwork.

An educational puzzle was also presented to the school to encourage learning through play and help develop problem-solving and cognitive skills.

The Effutu Libraries team participated in a ๐–๐ข๐ค๐ข๐’๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐œ๐ž ๐“๐ซ๐š๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ง๐  programme held at the Richard C. Ekem Municipal Library & ICT Centre in Winneba.

The training, facilitated by the Global Open Initiative Foundation (GOIF), introduced 22 staff members to WikiSource and its role in digitizing, preserving and making historical knowledge accessible.

Participants also explored digitised historical documents and gained practical insights into proofreading, accuracy, attention to detail and copyright awareness when working with historical materials.

The training is another step towards strengthening the digital competencies of library staff and supporting the preservation of Ghanaโ€™s rich documentary heritage.

Earlier today, Wednesday, 16th September 2026, the Regional Director of the Ghana Library Authority - Central Region, Nana Kwame Appiakubi, led a team from the Central Regional Office on a Back-to-School outreach across selected basic schools in the Cape Coast Metropolitan Area.

As the Ghana Library Authority prepares its public libraries to roll out ๐Œ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐•๐ข๐ซ๐š๐ฅ, an engaging game developed by ๐‚๐ก๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ ๐‚๐จ๐ฐ๐š๐ซ๐ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ž๐š๐ฆ ๐š๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ˆ๐ง๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐’๐œ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ, ๐”๐ง๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐–๐š๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐จ๐ง, the Ghana Library Authority - Central Region today, 13th August 2026, engaged 19 young people aged 11 to 15 years in playing the game.

๐Œ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐•๐ข๐ซ๐š๐ฅ is a set of puzzles that helps young people understand how information spreads, why we trust certain messages, and how emotions and social pressure can influence our decisions.

The session provided the participants with a practical and engaging opportunity to reflect on the information they encounter every day and the importance of pausing, questioning and verifying information before sharing it.

This is another step towards strengthening information literacy, critical thinking and responsible digital participation among young people through Ghana's public libraries.

The Cape Coast Youth Engagement Centre (YEC) hosted ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฒ-๐ฌ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ง (๐Ÿ๐Ÿ•) ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐  ๐ฉ๐ž๐จ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž for a Focus Group Discussion organized by UNICEF Ghana โ€“ Genesis Analytics to reassess the impact of the Youth Engagement Centre Project and explore opportunities for its continued growth and sustainability.

The discussion brought together both former and current Youth Engagement Centre Advisory Board (YECAB) members, whose role has been to provide strategic guidance, represent the voices of young people, support decision-making, and contribute to the planning and continuous improvement of the Centre's programmes and activities.

The engagement also provided an opportunity for the team to gather valuable insights and feedback from the Centre's core beneficiaries. These contributions will help inform future interventions, strengthen youth-focused programming, and shape a renewed direction for the Youth Engagement Centre.
