During an auspicious time, Cape Coast Technical University celebrated its Fortieth (40th) Anniversary.
From November 23rd, 2025 to November 28th, 2025, a rich lineup of activities, events, seminars, and commemorative programs were held across campus.

In view of this, The CCTU Debater’s Society (CCTUDS) was honored to play an active role in the celebrations.

One of the major highlights was the “What Do You Know – CCTU Edition”, organized on Sunday as part of the anniversary festivities. The quiz was hosted at the studios of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

We are proud to announce that CCTUDS provided the representatives for the quiz, showcasing the intellectual strength, confidence, and competitive spirit of our members.
Their performance reflected not only their commitment to excellence but also the society’s mission to promote knowledge, critical thinking, and public engagement.

As we continue to build a vibrant debating and intellectual community on campus, this milestone remains a significant reminder of what collaboration, preparation, and determination can achieve.

Understanding British Parliamentary (BP) Debate

At the heart of many international debate competitions, including GUDC, lies the British Parliamentary debate format — one of the most dynamic and intellectually rigorous debate styles worldwide. 🌍💬

In BP debate:
🔹 4 teams (2 for the motion, 2 against) compete in one round
🔹 Each team has 2 speakers, making 8 debaters in total
🔹 Teams are ranked 1st to 4th, not just win or lose
🔹 The style rewards teamwork, quick thinking, and strategic argumentation

Why BP?
✅ It trains debaters to think critically under pressure
✅ It pushes participants to engage with complex global issues
✅ It builds confidence, clarity, and leadership through words

As a club, we’re committed to mastering BP debate and preparing our members for platforms like GUDC 2025 and beyond. 🚀
