Pedu M/A B Basic School

On Monday, 9th March, 2026, the upper primary and junior high learners (BS4 – BS9) of *Pedu M/A B Basic School* embarked on an educational excursion to *Kakum National Park and Elmina Castle.* The trip was organized by the school to give learners the opportunity to gain practical knowledge outside the classroom and to enhance their understanding of topics studied in Social Studies and Environmental Studies.

The learners, accompanied by their teachers, departed from the school premises early in the morning in high spirits. The first destination was Kakum National Park, one of Ghana’s most famous tourist attractions known for its rich biodiversity and the popular canopy walkway suspended high above the forest floor.

At the park, the learners were warmly received by tour guide.
The highlight of the visit was the canopy walkway, where learners experienced walking across the suspended bridges while observing the forest from above.

After the visit to Kakum National Park, the learners continued their journey to Elmina where they visited the historic Elmina Castle. At the castle, tour guides gave a detailed account of the history of the castle, explaining its role during the trans-Atlantic slave trade. The learners were taken through important sections of the castle including the slave dungeons, the “Door of No Return,” and the governor’s quarters. This experience helped learners understand Ghana’s history and the struggles endured by enslaved Africans.
The excursion was both educational and memorable for the learners. It helped them connect classroom lessons to real-life experiences while also promoting teamwork, curiosity, and appreciation for Ghana’s cultural and natural heritage.

Overall, the excursion was a successful and enriching experience, and the school looks forward to organizing more educational trips in the future to support effective teaching and learning.

The management and staff of Pedu M/A ‘B’ Basic School organized an educational excursion for learners in the lower primary classes (KG1 – Basic 3) to the historic Elmina Castle and Cape Coast Castle.
The excursion took place with the aim of exposing the young learners to important historical sites in Ghana and helping them appreciate the country's rich cultural heritage. The trip also formed part of the school’s effort to make learning practical and interesting beyond the classroom.

Banyani has officially crowned the winners of the 1st Edition of the Climate Olympics Ghana following a thrilling grand finale in Cape Coast.

The competition brought together 16 basic schools from across the metropolis, all competing through rigorous preliminary rounds for a place in the finals. The journey was marked by intense debates, critical thinking, teamwork, and inspiring demonstrations of environmental knowledge and youth leadership.

After a highly competitive final round, the results were declared as follows:

🏅 4TH PLACE: Cornelia Connelly School of the Holy Child Jesus

Pedu M A “B” Basic School distinguished itself through consistency, confidence, and a strong command of sustainability concepts, earning the title of Climate Olympics Ghana Champions.

The 1st Edition of Climate Olympics Ghana was organized by Banyani in collaboration with key partners including Emperiks Research, GreenLead, Missmanana Kids, Rescue Mission International, UNIYA, and the Ghana Education Service. Their support contributed significantly to the success of the initiative.

All 16 participating schools demonstrated resilience, passion, and a strong commitment to environmental stewardship. The Climate Olympics Ghana continues to serve as an innovative platform designed to nurture youth leadership, deepen environmental awareness, and empower young people to take action within their schools and communities.

Banyani is grateful to all the participating schools and stakeholders for their incredible efforts toward climate literacy and climate action. Together, we preserve today in order to power tomorrow.
