GNFS RESCUES CASUALTY IN SUHUM ROAD CRASH
A male passenger trapped inside a Kia Rio has been rescued by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service after a road crash at Suhum Niifio on the Accra–Kumasi Highway.
The incident which occurred on Sunday, August 16, 2026, involved a Ford F-150, registration number DV B9981, and a Kia Rio, registration number AS 5401-12.
A six member fire crew arrived at the scene at about 8:03 p.m. and found the casualty trapped in the Kia Rio.
Using specialised extrication equipment, the firefighters freed the victim and transported him to the Suhum Government Hospital for medical attention.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Ford F-150, while overtaking, collided with the rear of the Kia Rio, causing extensive damage to the Ford and partial damage to the Kia.
The fire crew also salvaged GH¢50,000, 5,231 US dollars and other valuables, including mobile phones, power banks, National ID cards and personal belongings.
No death was recorded.
The Ghana National Fire Service has attributed the crash to wrongful overtaking and is urging motorists to exercise caution and strictly adhere to road safety regulations.
