Free SHS Policy has not been Cancelled - Important Notice

The Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to clarify that the Free SHS policy has NOT been cancelled.

The Director-General has not directed parents or guardians to pay GH¢1,500 for chop boxes, trunks, or any other items.

Parents, guardians, students and the general public are therefore advised not to make any payments based on such social media publications.

Please rely only on official communication from the Ghana Education Service and disregard unverified information circulating on social media.

Programme Manager Pays Courtesy Call on Ahafo Regional Director

The Programme Manager of the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) has paid a courtesy call on the Ahafo Regional Director of Education as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and promote educational opportunities for young people in the region.

The meeting focused on exploring effective strategies to encourage more students who have completed Senior High School (SHS) to apply for the FAWE scholarship programme.

The engagement provided an important platform to discuss ways of improving awareness, reaching eligible students, and ensuring that deserving young people, particularly young women, are supported to pursue further education and achieve their full potential.

The Ahafo Regional Education Directorate appreciates this initiative and looks forward to continued collaboration with FAWE in expanding access to educational opportunities for our students.

17th National Festival of Creative Arts and Culture for Basic Schools

The 17th National Festival of Creative Arts and Culture for Basic Schools is being held from 10th to 13th August 2026 in Techiman, Bono East Region. The ongoing festival brings together pupils, teachers, education officials, and cultural enthusiasts from across Ghana to celebrate creativity, talent, culture, and national heritage.

The exhibition has showcased the impressive creative talents of Ghanaian pupils, including art, craft, and other innovative works. These displays demonstrate the importance of providing children with opportunities, guidance, and resources to develop their talents.

The cultural activities are also ongoing, featuring traditional music, dance, costumes, storytelling, and other cultural expressions. These performances highlight Ghana’s rich cultural diversity and help pupils appreciate and preserve our heritage.

The festival is more than entertainment. It promotes confidence, creativity, cultural appreciation, teamwork, and holistic development among young learners.
