nity to promote sound Christian education and later started receiving daily tokens for staff motivation. Like any such undertaking with noble aims, the early days of the school was fraught with many difficulties and it took men and women of vision and valour to weather the storm and guide the school into what it is today. In the early eighties, the late Reverend Lartey Adotey (the then Area Superintendent) and the late Elder Joshua Acquaye were dragged to the citizen vetting committee on matters relating to the school. In their absence, Elder White, then of Korle Gonno Assembly, toiled to keep the school going. It was especially during these trying times that two energetic young elders of the Charles lane Assembly, Ebo Dadzie and Sampson Opoku took it upon themselves to salvage the school from the near collapse. They sacrificed money and time to keep the school running. They were assisted by very devoted personalities like Elder Stephen Wiafe, Elder Noah Amoako and Deaconess Ivy Gifty Owusu all of Charles lane Assembly. They constituted themselves into a management committee to direct the affairs of the school seeking assistance from other church members. Mr Ebo Dadzie served as both chairman of the committee and the supervisor of the school with Mr Victor Okine as the Acting Head. In the year 1983, the school obtained certification to operate primary education but with combined classes until the school was able to make room allocations for all the various classes. Elder Ebenezer McCarthy took over as the school board chairman thence to Deaconess Mercy Ayison who has since 2004 been the School Management Committee Chair. In times past some experienced retired personnel from the Ghana Education Service (G.E.S) contributed in no small measure to ensure the growth and stability of the school. Notable among these were Madam Sarah Nuamah Tewiah who headed the school from 1992-1994, Mrs Comfort Amoako who run the school to 1998/1999. During the first term of 1999/2000 Academic year, a retired Assistant Director of Schools (G.E.S.) in the person of Mrs Lydia Johnson was prevailed upon by the management committee to accept the position of supervisor of the school. This singular appointment helped to raise the standard and discipline of the school to a new level. The J.H.S department was started in 1999/2000 under her leadership. She also composed the then School Anthem “Let’s sing the song of loyalty...” which is now the school song. The current school anthem “Apostolic Church Academy, Jesus is our knowledge...” was composed in the year 2013 by Mr Kingsley Lartey Otoo, the then Ga and Music tutor. Mrs Johnson also introduced the ceremonial (white and blue black with tie) dress and the dress code for both teachers and pupils to ensure discipline and cleanliness. Nikoi (Former Director of Accra Teacher Training College) to the School Management Committee who engineered the development of the first Code of Conduct and Condition of service for Staff which has subsequently been reviewed. In June 2002, nine (9) pupils (6 boys & 3 girls) sat the Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E) obtaining 100% passes in that year, and the year 2003. The school’s enrolment was 279 with 26 Staff (both teaching and non-teaching) as at the year 2003. The affairs of the School was subsequently headed been headed by the likes of Mr. Frank Armah (Supervisor_2003-2005), Mr. Stephen Kwame Mensah (Head Master_2005-2006), Mrs. Ellen Amoah (Head Mistress _2006-2012), Mr. Frank Armah (Head Master_2012-2013), Mr. Nelson Bugari (Head Master_2013-2015) with Mr Enoch Offei as the current Head Master. Mr Enock Offei, a reverend minister of the Apostolic Church. The school has also lived up to her social responsibilities in committing to social needs of the environment. The school presented gifts to the Princess Marie Louise hospital (P.M.L.) and to the centre for the aged. It has also in recent times impacted the community with clean-up exercise organised every term. Today the pupil’s population is over 420 with a school staff of 30 including teachers, Kitchen Staff, Administration and Auxiliary staff. The school continue to offer Pre-School Education, Primary Education and Junior High School Education. We also offer a worthwhile and rich evening school, Saturday Classes, private B.E.C.E tutoring and registration for re-sitters and pre-SHS classes. The School, though without a modern day infrastructure, can boost of good academic successes.
