On April 1st, 2026, a devastating fire outbreak ravaged a portion of the girls' dormitory leaving students without basic necessities. In response, the DCE for Asuogyaman District, Hon. Godwin Bobobee, paid a visit to the school bearing relief items and a message of hope.

During his visit, he was heartened to learn about the bravery displayed by the boys who risked their lives to combat the flames and protect their schoolmates.

“Some of these young heroes sustained burns, and I'm pleased to have settled their medical bills as a token of appreciation for their selfless act. Had they not intervened, the entire girls' dormitory could have been lost”, he said.

His donation aims to provide some relief to the affected students, and we hope it brings a semblance of comfort during this challenging time.

University of Cape Coast Opens Admissions Portal for 2026/2027 Academic Year

The University of Cape Coast (UCC), through its Directorate of Academic Affairs, has officially opened its admissions portal for the 2026/2027 academic year.

In a notice dated 7th April 2026 and signed by the Head of Admissions, Diana Ama Dogbatse, the university announced that applications are now being accepted for Sandwich undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the 2026 academic year, as well as regular undergraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year.

According to the statement, candidates who will be sitting for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), as well as those who already have their results, are eligible to apply.

The university indicated that E-vouchers required for the online application process are available for purchase at designated centres. These include the UCC Cashier’s Office in Cape Coast, the university’s Accra Office at Tesano, and all branches of the Ghana Post Company Limited.

Additionally, applicants can purchase vouchers at several banks nationwide, including GCB Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, Republic Bank Ghana, Zenith Bank Ghana, Prudential Bank Ghana, CalBank, National Investment Bank, OmniBSIC Bank, and Fidelity Bank Ghana, among others.

The cost of the E-voucher has been set at GH¢220.00.

Prospective applicants are required to complete their applications online via the university’s admissions portal. The university has also provided an official email address for enquiries.

UCC encouraged all interested candidates to take advantage of the opportunity and submit their applications within the stipulated period.
