Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) is a civil society network championing the right

Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) is a network of civil society organisations, professional groupings, educational/research institutions and other practitioners interested in promoting quality basic education for all. Formed in 1999, the Coalition has steadily grown over the years with a current membership of about 200 organisations. Its philosophy is premised on the fact that education is a fundamental human right and key to breaking the cycle of poverty.

The theme for this year's 2022 Pre-NEW which is an adoption of the national theme is “Re-assessing Educational Policies for Effective Service Delivery and National Transformation”. The focus is on assessing the implementation of provisions made in educational policies and discuss key issues/recommendations in research reports on findings from researches conducted by GNECC and others within the last one year. Researches conducted by GNECC in the period include:
• Independent CSO audit of school infrastructure
• Research into the implementation of Free SHS
• Tracking the disbursement and utilization of education resources
Expected Outcome
Civil Society position paper with recommendations on issues to improve outcomes in the education sector prepared and presented to the Ministry of Education at the 2022 NEW meeting.
