Suhum Municipal Education Directorate- STMIE Unit

The Ghana Education Service – Suhum Municipal Education Directorate has commenced a Basic Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (BSTEM) Municipal-Level Training for Science and Mathematics teachers from BSTEM beneficiary schools in the municipality.

The training commenced on Wednesday, 11th March, 2026 and will end on Tuesday, 24th March, 2026 at the Computing Laboratory of Suhum M/A Experimental ‘C’ Basic School.

The training aims to build the capacity of teachers to effectively deliver BSTEM concepts and practical activities in their schools and to strengthen STEM teaching and learning within the municipality.

Teachers from the fourteen (14) beneficiary Junior High Schools are participating in the training.

All Junior High Schools in the Suhum Municipality proudly celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science under the theme:

✨ “GirlsInTech: From Vision to Impact – Redefining STEM by Closing the Gender Gap.”

Our girls actively participated in:
🔬 Hands-on science experiments
💻 Digital literacy sessions
🤖 Robotics and engineering model demonstrations
🎤 Inspiring mentorship talks from female educators
🏗️ Industrial visit at Zipline

The Municipal STEM and Girl-Child Education Coordinators visited selected schools to monitor activities, encourage participation, and motivate our young girls to confidently pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

We are not just celebrating girls in science — we are shaping future engineers, doctors, researchers, innovators, and technology leaders! 👩🏽‍🔬👩🏽‍💻🌟

The Team from Suhum M/A Experimental ‘B’ Basic School in the Suhum Municipality received a well-deserved celebration on Wednesday, 15th October 2025, as part of the GSTEP 2025 Eastern Regional Homecoming. Their achievement in topping the ’s (Eastern Region) was recognized with the presentation of STEM kits by the GSTEP team. The event was graced by notable attendees, including the Regional STEM Coordinator, the Municipal STEM Coordinator, and the Deputy Director for Supervision and Monitoring, highlighting the importance of this accomplishment in promoting STEM education in the Municipal and the region at large.

The GSTEP Challenge 2025 Eastern Region Finalist Pitching and Judging event was held at the Koforidua GNAT Hall, on Tuesday 3rd June, 2025.
The Team of Suhum M/A Exp. ‘B’ JHS performance was a mind bowling!

Our next line of activity is EXHIBITION AND AWARDS CEREMONY on the 16th and 17th of July 2025 at the National Theatre, Accra.
