The peace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ be with you.
I humbly welcome you back to school to begin another academic year. May we be endowed with wisdom to explore various ways to make our interactions with students and colleagues fun, as we share our learning points for our mutual growth and development .
My Regards to all of you
At Kparekpare in the Krachi East District of the Oti Region, participants shared the usefulness of PLCs and the classroom observations by Headteachers. According to them, both activities offer teachers the opportunity to identify their strengths and weaknesses in practice, share in the experiences of others, and also help them (teachers) to be abreast with the current trends in the teaching and learning processes.
Can we add to the importance of PLCs and weekly classroom observations by Headteachers at the comment session?

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana was formed in December 1828. Education has been a niche of the Church. The Church started its first basic school in 1843 and post basic Teacher Training College in 1848. It has schools in all the 16 regions of Ghana. These are made up of Kindergarten, Primary, JHS, Senior High Schools, Technical/Vocational Schools, Colleges of Education, and fully fledged Universities. It also has Nursing/ Midwifery Colleges and a College of Health Sciences, tertiary institutions operated under the auspicious of the Ministry of Health.
When the founding mission of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana pioneered formal education, it was to serve as a platform for developing the whole being. It sought to provide a type of education that was truly Ghanaian, holistic and inclusive for both boys and girls and those who are differently abled. Thus, the philosophical underpinning was to educate the head, the heart, and the hands. The hands for work and skill development, the head for knowledge acquisition, and the heart for the gospel and morality
The Basel Mission’s robust educational system structure of Kindergarten, Primary, and Middle School, was used by the Ghana Education Service for one hundred and forty-four (144) years until the Junior Secondary School Educational reforms replaced it in 1987.
