EXPLORING TURKEY & BIBLICAL EPHESUS FOR AN INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL TOUR – YOUNG EXECUTIVE SCHOOL
As part of its Annual International Educational Tour scheduled for August 2026, the top management (Rev. Nana Francis Essel-Okyeahene 1 (PhD) and Mrs Mavis Essel-okyeahene) of Young Executive School, Kasoa Opeikuma Junction, embarked on an advance educational and site-inspection tour of the Republic of Türkiye (Turkey), one of our major international destinations alongside Dubai.
The purpose of this visit is to identify educational, historical, cultural, biblical, and tourist sites that will provide our students with practical learning experiences beyond the classroom.
Our journey began in Istanbul, the historic city that uniquely links Europe and Asia. From there, we travelled to Izmir, one of Türkiye's most beautiful coastal cities on the Aegean Sea.
While in the Izmir region, we visited the House of the Virgin Mary, a place revered by many Christians as the home where Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, spent her final years under the care of the Apostle John. This tradition is linked to Jesus' words on the cross when He entrusted His mother to the disciple whom He loved (John 19:26–27).
We also visited the ancient city of Ephesus, where the Apostle John is believed to have strengthened the early Christian Church. The team toured the ruins of the Basilica of St. John, traditionally regarded as the burial place of the Apostle John, and explored the magnificent archaeological remains of the Ancient City of Ephesus, one of the world's most remarkable historical and tourist destinations.
Our educational expedition has continued to Cappadocia, a region renowned for its spectacular landscapes, underground cities, ancient cave churches, and the world-famous hot-air balloons. Cappadocia also holds special significance in biblical history. It is mentioned in Acts 2:9, where visitors from Cappadocia were present in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples (Acts 2:1–4). It is again mentioned in 1 Peter 1:1, where the Apostle Peter addressed believers living in Cappadocia, demonstrating the spread of the Christian faith into the region during the early Church.
