For , we celebrate the newest 2020/2021 Africa Business and Social Change Fellow!!
Friday Pharaoh holds a Master's Degree in Economics from the University of Malawi, Chancellor Collage, and a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Economics from Bunda College of Agriculture.
He specializes in conducting Baseline, Midline, and Endline evaluations for organizations such as Plan International, Save the Children, United Purpose, Trocaire Malawi, and ChristianAid among others. He brings work experience from Project Concern International, Palladium Group's Feed the Future Agriculture Diversification Activity, Lighthouse Trust as well as Innovations for Poverty Action.
Friday's roles have centered around Research, Monitoring and Evaluation, especially quantitative methods. His sectoral interests include humanitarian response, livelihoods, food security, education and climate change. Friday enjoys reading and travelling in his free time.

Once part of the powerful ancient Aksumite Empire, Eritrea is situated in the horn of Africa! The nation is bordered by Ethiopia, Sudan, and Djibouti.
This multi-ethnic nation of 3.5 million inhabitants belongs primarily to 2 ethnic groups: 1) Tigrinyas 2) Tigre.
Eritrea has nine national languages that are all indigenous to the nation, along with three working languages that include English, Arabic, and Tigrinya.
The economy’s most important sector is agriculture, where around 80% of the population thrive on agricultural livelihood activities.
Did you know that Eritrea is a fairly young population? In fact, 60% of inhabitants are below 24 years old! Lastly, Eritrea is very proud to share that over the last two decades, it has doubled its literacy rates!

For we celebrate Amera Hamo! As a 4th year dental student at the University of Khartoum in Sudan, her dream is to restore smiles by providing exceptional dental care.
Alongside her studies, Amera provides support on our Google Jara project, where she on-boards small and medium enterprises in Ghana to be featured on the new Jara online platform.
Previously, Amera worked on the ILC Africa administrative team for the 2019/2020 Africa Business and Social Change Fellowship recruitment. In this role, Amera managed thousands of CV’s and uploaded them onto ILC Africa’s GoLocal talent database. She also managed email communications and alerted candidates on status updates.
In her free time, Amera is an avid baker and enjoys experimenting with new recipes.
Let us celebrate Amera for leveraging her multiple passions towards making a difference!

For we celebrate Ebtihal Ismail, a former iReach Education Experts teacher/tutor in Sudan!
As a part of the 2018/2019 iReach team of teacher/tutors, Ebtihal supported student-clients ages 3 to 16 years! Ebtihal developed curricula according to national and international standards. Additionally, Ebtihal led math and science camps, while strengthening English language and phonics through after-school iReach programs!
Today, Ebtihal continues to pursue her passion as a teacher/tutor. Apart from teaching, Ebtihal is passionate about story telling through audiovisuals! In fact, she is creating an animation that highlights Afro-Arab society in an illuminating way.
Hip hip hooray for our star teacher Ebtihal! We admire and appreciate her positivity, dedication, and high standards towards teaching our next generation of African youth!

Throwback Thursday to when a group of 10 ILC Africa translators conducted express local language translations in 11 local languages!!
This power team assembled for 48 hours to express translate household survey data collection forms into the local Ghanaian languages of Ga, Dangbe, Fante, Asante Twi, Akuapem Twi, Dagbani, Gonja, Dagaare, Ewe, Kasem, and Nzema.

For , we celebrate Theodore Semenyo, known by everyone as Techno-Teddy!
As an ILC Africa consultant to the Google project, Teddy on-boards Ghanaian small and medium enterprises to go LIVE on the Google Jara online platform!
In 2016, Teddy joined ILC Africa as a Mobile Technology Specialist on the USAID: Ghana Partnership for Education Project. He spearheaded and managed 240 enumerators across 14 regions of Ghana to carry out daily uploads of digital data to a cloud server used by international NGO's.
On our project teams, Teddy is best known for his technology talents in information technology, videography, photography, and all things media!!! He leverages certificates in Information Technology and Networking from IPMC and NIIT Ghana into his daily work.
Even in his down time, Teddy is the lead videographer and photographer at Aflame for Christ Evangelistic Ministry.
Let’s give it up for our very own 'Techno-Teddy'! He always makes ILC Africa look cool, as we operate smoothly with the latest technological innovations.

ILC Africa is proud to announce our as 2021 finalists of the Switzerland Secondary School Consortium Scholarship!!!
ILC Africa carried out a rigorous competition, inclusive of video interviews, standardized testing (SSAT, ISSE, IELTS), and debate topics. For , we celebrate Arden Darko-Boateng as our rising ILC Africa academian!!
Arden is a 4th year Columbia University graduate student studying Physiology in New York City. His research seeks to understand how voltage calcium channels (proteins involved in heartbeat and brain communication) are regulated.
In a recent interview with us, Arden reflects on the year 2007 with ILC Africa, “As I have gained credentials, I realize that human quality of life in Africa can improve through dedicated investments in science and research."

to 2019 World Vision Sierra Leone technical report-writing training!!
ILC Africa conducted a three-day organization wide training for 35 World Vision Sierra Leone staff members to strengthen report-writing skills. ILC Africa provided teams one-on-one guidance through shoulder-to-shoulder sessions. Finally, ILC Africa held Training-of-Trainers sessions to facilitate managerial staff in training other staff.
At ILC Africa, we develop the capacity of local talent through interactive training sessions!
