Legal education must remain the core mandate of the General Legal Council, with government providing support, not direction, in line with global best practice. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲, 𝗚𝗼 𝗔𝗻𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗬𝗮𝗮 𝗔𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗶, 𝗘𝘀𝗾.

Every MountCrest story begins with a spark — and Mary Yaa Abrafi’s journey is one of brilliance, discipline, and grace.

She joined MountCrest University College as a regular student in the 2018/2019 academic year, fresh from senior high school, bringing with her a quiet confidence and a deep passion for learning. From the very beginning, she distinguished herself intellectually as a force to be reckoned with — combining academic excellence with humility, leadership, and service.

Mary soon became known not just for her exceptional grasp of the law, but also for her willingness to help others. She led tutorials for her classmates and guided peers preparing for the Ghana School of Law Entrance Examination — a dedication that would later see her selected by the GSL SRC to help mentor new entrants this year.

Her brilliance shone even brighter when she represented MountCrest in our first appearance on the𝗧𝗩𝟯 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲, where her eloquence and composure earned her the title of 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗙𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁.

Today, that same consistency and commitment have once again been recognised — as she emerges as the 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 at this year’s Ghana School of Law graduation.

We believe Mary Yaa Abrafi embodies the MountCrest spirit — excellence, integrity, and service to society. We wish her continued success in whichever field of law she chooses to pursue — whether in academia, practice, governance, public service, legislative drafting, corporate counsel, arbitration, mediation, advocacy, compliance, or international work.
