🤔 Unpopular Opinion: Is any country truly "Islamic"?
We see the labels all the time: "Islamic Republic," "Kingdom of Saudi Arabia" as the guardian of the Two Holy Mosques. It creates an image of a state run by divine principles.
But let's be real. When you look at the actions of Muslim-majority nations from Saudi Arabia's monarchy to Pakistan's political turmoil and Turkey's nationalist ambitions a different picture emerges.
The driving force isn't the interest of the global Ummah or even a strict adherence to Sharia. It's national interest, political survival, and monarchical power.
These are modern nation-states, operating with colonial-era borders, playing the game of geopolitics. The "Islamic" label often feels more like a brand than a blueprint for governance.
This isn't about faith itself, but about power structures. It's the gap between the spiritual ideal of justice, consultation (Shura), and accountability, and the political reality of the world we live in.
