HERITAGE MONTH SPECIAL: EMBRACING PATRIOTISM THROUGH SONG
As part of our ongoing celebration of Ghana’s Heritage Month, today's worship session was a heartfelt tribute to patriotism, unity, and national pride. Our focus was on the Akan patriotic song and the powerful words of "Yen Ara Asaase Ni," a song that has stood the test of time as a call for all Ghanaians to cherish and defend their homeland.
The session began with a deep reflection on the lyrics, reminding us that Ghana’s progress depends on the dedication and responsibility of its citizens. The students sang with passion, their voices echoing the importance of being patriotic—not just in words but in actions.
Through engaging discussions, we explored what patriotism means in our daily lives:
Respecting our national symbols—the flag, anthem, and pledge.
Protecting our environment—keeping our surroundings clean and green.
Being responsible citizens—showing honesty, kindness, and discipline in our communities.
The session was more than just a musical experience; it was a moment of learning and self-reflection. As we continue celebrating Heritage Month, let us carry the message of patriotism in our hearts, striving to contribute to the growth and unity of our beloved Ghana.
Long live our heritage, long live Ghana!

SCIENCE PRACTICALS IN ACTION: BASIC 6 STUDENTS EXPLORE ELECTRIC CIRCUITS! @ ALPHA VALLEY SCHOOL, OFF THE ADENTA-DODOWA ROAD, ACCRA GHANA
At Alpha Valley School, hands-on learning is an essential part of ourc teaching approach. Our Basic 6 students recently had an exciting science practical on electric circuits, where they built and tested simple circuits using batteries, wires, LED lights, and a homemade switch.
The experiment aimed to help students understand how electricity flows and the role of a switch in controlling a circuit. Using a paper clip as a switch, the students observed that the LED light turned on when the circuit was closed and off when the circuit was open—a clear demonstration of how circuits work in real life!
STUDENT OBSERVATIONS & LEARNING OUTCOMES
The LED lit up when the circuit was complete, confirming the flow of electricity.
The paper clip acted as a switch, demonstrating how electrical connections control devices.
Students learned the importance of proper wiring and connections for a functional circuit.
This hands-on activity was engaging and insightful, allowing students to apply their science lessons in a practical way. By fostering curiosity and problem-solving skills, we continue to nurture young scientists who will shape the future!
Stay tuned for more exciting learning experiences from our classrooms!

Today's worship at Alpha Valley Schoolwas an enlightening health talk moderated by two distinguished speakers from the Ghana Health Service. The event, held in the school’s auditorium, focused on the topic of enuresis, commonly known as bed-wetting, and provided students with in-depth insights into its causes, effects, and solutions. The experts in health education, engaged the audience in a thought-provoking discussion, encouraging open dialogue and understanding around this sensitive topic.
In the opening session, the first speaker highlighted that enuresis is often influenced by genetics, an overactive bladder, and family history. She explained how deeply some individuals sleep, which can make it harder for them to control their bladder during the night. “It’s more common than we think,” she reassured, reminding students that it’s often beyond one’s immediate control and isn’t a reflection of their personal hygiene or habits.
The second speaker discussed the social and emotional effects of enuresis. He pointed out that, beyond the immediate discomfort, it can lead to shyness, impact self-esteem, and in some cases, may even contribute to mild mental health concerns. He also mentioned that enuresis, if not managed carefully, could potentially lead to skin irritation or infection due to prolonged exposure to dampness, as well as an unpleasant odor.
To counter these effects, both speakers shared practical solutions. They advised students to limit their fluid intake in the evening, emphasizing the importance of a stable bedtime routine. “Going to the bathroom before bed and right upon waking up should become a habit,” she stressed, adding that these small actions can help reduce occurrences. They encouraged students to talk to family members or trusted adults if they faced issues with enuresis, to feel supported and understood.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A where students expressed their thoughts and personal experiences. The speakers urged the students to view health issues like enuresis with empathy and respect, reminding everyone that such challenges are part of many young people’s experiences.
This informative event offered not only education but also a sense of solidarity among students, showing that they are not alone in facing health issues and can openly seek advice. The speakers’ insights and thoughtful approach left the audience with new knowledge, a greater sense of understanding, and practical steps to handle enuresis with confidence and care.
Alpha Valley School- a place of excellence and pride.
