In Ghana they settled in the what is now called the Accra plains from Ada, Tema, Nungua to Feteh. The Asere Kotopon group went to Ayawaso ( Ayi Wa So means Ayi the leader stopped on Thursday) now corrupted AYAWASO, before coming to the coastal area now called Ga Mashie.
According to Historians, some of the family of Ayi (The Leader) went back to Togo and Benin.

"The Big Tree" near the town of Akim Oda which is 66.5 m (218 ft) tall and 396 cm (13 ft) in diameter is believed to be the biggest tree ever discovered in Ghana and West Africa. It is a member of the species Tieghemella heckelii.

It is located in the Esen Apam Forest Reserve, about 22 kilometers from Akim Oda, about 300 m (1,000 ft) off the Oda-Agona Swedru trunk road.

The tree is known to be between 350 and 400 years old, and has a low natural generational success rate which is a contributory factor to its likelihood of extinction.

The Elmina Castle was the first fort built in Gold Coast.

Built by the Portuguese in January 1482, the Elmina Castle was established as a trade settlement which later became one of the most important stops on the route of the Atlantic slave trade.

The castle acted as a depot where enslaved Africans were brought in from different Kingdoms in West Africa by Slave-Catchers in exchange for goods such as textiles and horses.

The Fort was seized from the Portuguese by the Dutch in 1637 and in 1872 became a possession of Great Britain.
