👨‍👧‍👦 Happy Father’s Day from CEGENSA!
Fatherhood is more than a title, it is a commitment to nurturing, mentoring, protecting, and empowering future generations.
As we celebrate Father’s Day, we acknowledge the important role fathers and father figures play in promoting gender equality, strengthening families, and fostering inclusive communities where everyone can thrive.
Today, we honor the men who lead by example, support their families, and contribute to creating a more just and equitable society.

✨ Trailblazer Thursdays ✨
Today, we celebrate Georgina Theodora Wood, a woman who shattered one of Ghana’s highest glass ceilings.
As Ghana’s first female Chief Justice, she championed judicial reform, strengthened access to justice, and inspired countless women to pursue leadership without limits.
Her story reminds us that representation matters and that when women lead, institutions are transformed.

📌When we discuss gender bias in academia, the conversation usually centers on women's underrepresentation in leadership, lower promotion rates, and unequal funding opportunities. But what about bias against the research itself? 📉🤔
For this week's Research Spotlight, CEGENSA highlights a crucial study by Aleksandra Cislak, Magdalena Formanowicz, and Tamar Saguy titled: "Bias against research on gender bias." đź“‘đź’ˇ
By reviewing 1,046 empirical studies published between 2008–2015, the researchers found that gender discrimination studies were routinely published in less prestigious journals with lower Impact Factors compared to similar studies on racial discrimination.
This lack of visibility and funding makes it incredibly difficult to develop effective policy solutions and address ongoing disparities. To create an inclusive academic ecosystem, we must value all evidence equally.

📌Let’s kick off the week with a thought-provoking fact about gender equality and leadership.
Representation matters not only because everyone deserves a voice, but because inclusive decision-making leads to better outcomes for communities, nations, and future generations.
While important strides have been made globally, there is still significant work to do to ensure women have equal opportunities to lead, influence policy, and shape the future.

📌Partnerships create lasting impact.
We were honoured to receive Dr. Bettina Boohene-Andah, Founder of Menfyd, at the CEGENSA office, where she presented copies of the 5 by 5 book to our Director, Prof. Deborah Atobrah.
This visit follows our collaboration on the 5 by 5 University Roadshow at the University of Ghana, which engaged students in important conversations around issues affecting women and girls.
At CEGENSA, we value partnerships that drive awareness, inspire action, and contribute to building a more equitable society.
We look forward to continued collaboration and impact.

📌Depression is one of the most common mental health disorders globally, yet its impact is not experienced equally.
Research shows that women are almost twice as likely as men to experience depression. This disparity is influenced by a complex combination of biological, social, economic, and environmental factors.
In this week's Gender Lens spotlight, we examine the gender dimensions of depression and why understanding these differences is critical for improving awareness, support, and treatment.
Read, reflect, and join the conversation on how gender shapes mental health experiences.

📌Let’s begin our week with gender facts in Ghana!
Strong rural economies depend on the people who sustain them every day. Ensuring that women can access, control, and benefit from productive resources is not only a matter of fairness, it is essential for sustainable development.
As we work toward inclusive growth, conversations around equity, opportunity, and resource ownership must remain at the center of development planning.
