Hi everyone! We’re having one more reeling session tonight in preparation for our winter ball! This would be a great opportunity to brush up your skills before the ball, or to show anyone you’re bringing to the ball what’s going on! We’ll be in ATB/042 (different to our usual room, but in the same building) at the slightly earlier time of 7. See you there!

Hear ye, hear ye! It’s the itinerary for the summer ball!

Doors will open at 6pm for a 7pm start. There’ll be an interval at 8, and dancing will finish at 9.30 in time for the ball to finish at 10 to 10.30. The venue is St. Sampson’s Church on Church street, near the Shambles. We encourage you to get the bus or walk if you can, the U1 and U2 both get pretty close. There will be an open bar, and medieval costumes are highly encouraged!

Tickets are £28 for members and £31 for non-members. See you there!

We’re back! Come along to ATB/057 on Tuesday 26th May in ATB/057 for a couple hours of ceilidh dancing!
This is also a reminder that the tickets for our summer ball our available now on the SU website. Get them while they’re hot!

This week, York SU confirmed the ratification of Restore Britain Society a group who have already held events like ‘‘detain and deport pub golf” and signalled their support of fascist figures like Oswald Mosley.
While we feel that free speech and debate is important, Restore Britain’s policies of ending DEI, repealing the Equality Act, repealing the Human Rights Act, banning abortion, repealing the gender recognition act, banning burqas and niqabs, mass deportation, and more, limit the freedom of everyone, make campus a more dangerous environment for all marginalised groups, and go against the SU’s own commitment to inclusion and equality.

Caledonian Society wholeheartedly condemns Restore Britain society and would completely support a move to deratify. CalSoc is, and will remain, an inclusive community, and we want all students to feel safe and welcomed on campus.
