We’re inviting children to take part in a quick and engaging online research study exploring how people solve problems! 🧠💡

In this 10-minute online task, you'll see characters suggest different solutions to problems—and you choose which one you'd prefer.

👩‍🔬 Meet the Researcher: Dr Emma Tecwyn 🧠✨

Ever wondered how kids, animals, and even primates solve puzzles? 🤔🔍 Emma is a developmental psychologist investigating the origins of problem-solving skills across species!

Using fun experiments with physical puzzles and computer-based tasks, Emma's research explores:

🔹 Mental Simulation in Kids 🧩 – Do children imagine different outcomes before making a choice? How do their thinking skills shape their decisions?

🔹 Causal Reasoning 🔄 – How do kids figure out cause-and-effect? Can they understand that some actions make things happen?

🔹 Social Learning & Overimitation 👀 – Why do children copy even unnecessary actions? How do social cues influence this behavior?

Emma has also studied orangutans planning ahead 🦧, capuchin monkeys using probabilities to make decisions 🐵, dogs understanding gravity 🐶, and children's sense of time ⏳!

Emma's work helps us understand how young minds develop, learn, and problem-solve—through childhood and across evolution itself! 🧠💡

We make participation easy and flexible - you'll receive invitations to studies that match your child's age, and you can choose the ones that fit your schedule and interests. Sessions take place at York St John University or either in-person or online from the comfort of your home.
