Our children have been exploring natural materials in the garden to support their physical development. They have been weaving string between forked sticks and then painting sticks which they have then attached things to in order to create wind chimes!

Visiting the library is such as wonderful experience for children. At the library they can explore a range of books, both storybooks and non-fiction texts, as well as textile books and more!

🦋Growing butterflies!🦋

Each of our nursery rooms from our youngest babies to our oldest preschool children have loved learning about the life cycle of butterflies. They arrived at nursery a few weeks ago as tiny caterpillars that grew larger and larger until they built cacoons and later emerged as butterflies.

Observing this change developed our children's understanding of the world and prompted lots of discussion and questions. This in turn developed children's communication and language, inspired awe and wonder and promoted the characteristics of effective learning with curiosity and high engagement.

Today many of our rooms were able to release their butterflies into our gardens to join the natural world!

This week at Forest School our children have been learning about living creatures. They have created their own bird feeders, listened to environmental sounds and gone on hunts to find minibeasts in their natural environment - here's a photo of a caterpillar they found!
