One of the most powerful things you can do to improve your food relationship is to simply change the language you use around food.

The language you use around food matters more than you think.

Instead of using the words “good” & “bad” to describe certain foods

Try replacing these words with “more nutrient dense” & “less nutrient dense” & watch your food relationship transform!

Such a simple yet powerful reframe!

All foods have their place within a healthy, balanced diet and nourish us in different ways.

Nutrient dense foods such as fruit and veg nourish our bodies because they provide us with essential minerals and vitamins.

Whereas less nutrient dense foods such as chocolate nourish our soul because they provide us with pleasure, memories and enjoyment.

Being neutral about food choices will stop shame and guilt

And it will set you up for choices more aligned with your goals.

I rarely opened up to people about my binge eating

But when I did I often received unhelpful comments that just exacerbated the shame I already felt & left me feeling even more broken.

I remember feeling SO alone with my struggles around food.

No one else seemed to understand or relate.

I honestly used to feel like the only person on the planet who felt so out of control around food.

Everyone else seemed to be able to eat so normally, so effortlessly.

I guess this post is a reminder to those of you who are struggling with their food relationship…

Please know that you’re not alone & that support is available.

Its 100% possible to break the cycle x

Holidays just hit differently when you’re no longer consumed by thoughts about your body weight & shape.

Sarah has done some amazing work on her body image over the past few months. She’s really challenged this belief that she could only feel accepting & at peace with her body once she had lost weight.

Together we’ve broken down these limiting beliefs & have implemented evidence based strategies to build a more positive body image.

Sarah’s most recent holiday was packed full of memories, experiences and FUN instead the usual preoccupation with food & her body.

But learning how to enjoy all foods in moderation will honestly be one of the best things you’ll ever do!

Think about the goal you’re currently working towards

It could be…

✨Healing your relationship with food & body

✨Fat loss

✨Becoming a healthier version of yourself

Are your daily actions reflective of the goal you’re currently working towards?

Because your daily actions are building your future!

Every day counts!

What’s one small action you can take each day this week to show up for that future version of you?

✨Maybe it’s making yourself a nourishing breakfast everyday

✨Maybe it’s getting to bed earlier

✨Maybe it’s beginning each day with a walk

✨Maybe it’s getting to the gym after work

✨Maybe it’s resisting the urge to step on the weighing scales

One of the biggest mistakes you’re making with emotional eating is that you think it’s about having more self control.

But the clue is in the name..

It’s about emotional regulation

Which is why dieting, restriction or relying on all the ‘willpower’ and self control around your favourite foods doesn’t work.

They only mask the problem.

There’s nothing wrong with using food as a coping strategy

But if it’s your ONLY coping strategy, then it’s something to start working on.

For a long-term strategy that addresses the problem rather than masking it, apply for coaching via the link in my bio x
