Under the Sea 🌊🐠

This week’s tuff tray invited the children to dive into an underwater adventure.

Using nets, sea creatures, shells and colourful ocean plants, the children enjoyed scooping, pouring and searching for hidden treasures beneath the waves.

Sensory play like this encourages fine motor skills, imaginative play, language development and lots of opportunities for conversation as we explored the different creatures that live under the sea.

Sometimes the simplest activities create the biggest adventures 💙

We all scream for ice cream! 🍦☀️

It’s Ice Cream Week and we’ve been enjoying lots of colourful, hands-on learning through play.

From scooping and filling our ice cream cones in sensory play, to creating our own ice creams and choosing different flavours — there have been lots of opportunities for counting, colour recognition, fine motor skills and imaginative play 🍨✨

A sunny day exploring Barrington ☀️🌿

Today we headed out for an adventure, exploring the beautiful gardens, stopping to watch the pond, looking for bugs amongst the flowers and collecting natural treasures along the way 🐞🌼

So many opportunities for curiosity, conversation and discovering the world around us — and, of course, plenty of space to explore and enjoy being outdoors 🤍

Days like these are one of my favourite parts of childminding ✨

Buzzing into learning this week 🐝🌼

Getting ready for National Bee Day with lots of hands-on learning and play.

We explored honey scented playdough, worked on our fine motor skills by helping the bees back into their hive, stacked our beehives and honey bees, and learned all about the bee life cycle 🐝

So many lovely opportunities for conversation, problem solving and learning through play 🤍

A walk to Walter’s Garden 🌿🐞

Today we headed out to Walter’s Garden to see what signs of spring we could spot — checking in on the bug hotel, peeking into the pond, looking at the veg patch and noticing all the flowers starting to bloom.

A simple outing full of curiosity, conversation and exploring the world around us 🌼

Celebrating Earth Day 🌍💚

Today we’ve been exploring ways to care for our world through play and creativity.

From sensory play and investigating natural colours and textures, to creating our own little Earths using handprints 🌱

Such a lovely way to introduce little conversations about looking after our planet, even with our youngest learners 🤍

Last week’s learning 🐛🍎

We’ve been exploring The Hungry Caterpillar through play and creativity.

Our tuff tray was filled with lots of opportunities for storytelling, counting and exploring different foods, while our craft activity allowed the children to get creative using natural materials to make their own caterpillars 🍃

Such a lovely way to bring a story to life and encourage imagination, language and fine motor skills 🧸✨

This Week 🐣🌸

We are celebrating Easter!!

We have lots of exciting activities set up ready for the children to explore:

🥚 Egg hunting fun — encouraging problem solving and exploration
🥄 Balancing games — developing coordination and control (Physical Development - EYFS)
🌈 Colour sorting — supporting early Mathematics skills
🔢 Number matching — building number recognition and counting confidence

Our farm shop and café are still up and running, providing lots of opportunities for imaginative role play, supporting Communication & Language and Expressive Arts & Design.

We’ve also swapped out our farm toys for Happyland castles, inspiring new storytelling and creative play — great for developing imagination and social interaction (PSED).

Lots of fun, hands-on learning to enjoy this week 😊
