Because i truly believe you should never stop trying to be the best possible version of you ⬇️

I started a hairdressing course at 17 and if I’m honest? I absolutely hated it. I did it because it was Hair Extensions that interested me the most and at the time I thought being a qualified Hairdresser was the best route to go.

Since then, I’ve not offered any additional hairdressing services and instead either had self-employed stylists or built a team of employed stylists to do this for me. However, it wasn’t until recently that I realised that the knowledge I built up over the past 10 years meant I was actually pretty knowledgeable and the more I watched the more I wanted to do.

Last year, surrounded by a strong support system at work, I decided it was now time to go back and do what I should’ve done 15 years ago… & do you know what? Now I absolutely love it 😻

After managing a fully booked Salon, multiple staff members and everything that goes with it it’s been really humbling to go back with a fresh mind and start again!

So for anybody reading this, it’s never too late.. if you’ve got that passion, you’ll find a way back to it one way or another 🫶🏻

I’ve been sat on this for the past few weeks, waiting for the right time to post but with the summer holidays in full swing I have completely neglected social media for time with my loved ones… but guess what?

I WON AN AWARD 🥺🏆

Out of thousands of entries, I’ve been awarded Highly Recommended Winner at the 2026 UK Hair & Beauty Awards for Hair Extensions Specialist of the Year 🖤

This has been a very different year for me, with lots of changes, lots of figuring things out, and a LOT of battling that little voice in my head telling me I’m not good enough & maybe it’s time to give up & get a ‘real job’ lolllll.

My imposter syndrome is very real, and there have been plenty of moments where I’ve questioned myself, my work and whether I really deserved everything I had.

So to have my work recognised like this - especially when this is the first time I’ve ever entered an awards competition - feels pretty mega!

I’m going to let myself be proud of this one for abit… & To anyone else who struggles with imposter syndrome: sometimes you need to stop listening to the voice that tells you you’re not good enough and look at the evidence that proves you are. ✨

Thank you to every single client who has trusted me with their hair, supported me, recommended me and allowed me to do what I love. 🖤

Social media has a funny way of making you feel like you need to constantly show up, even when you’re busy actually living.

I closed my salon & changed my business to create more balance in my life and I’m reminding myself that there’s no point creating that freedom if I’m still putting pressure on myself to be constantly online.

So here’s my little check in & a little snippet of what my summer has consisted of - when the kiddos go back to school content will hopefully resume, but until now I’m just living my life the way it feels right for me 🖤

If your first instinct is to reach for the tint bowl every time a client wants more dimension… you’re probably making your job harder than it needs to be babe!

✨ Extensions can create depth, contrast and movement without colouring a single hair on your clients head - and who doesn’t want that? Colour without commitment 🙋🏻‍♀️

The key isn’t about colour - it’s about understanding placement, depth and tone.

✔️ Placement: Where you position each shade is what creates the illusion of natural highs and lows. Concentrate darker tones underneath for depth, and strategically place lighter pieces where the light naturally hits.

✔️ Colour Depth: Mix different levels instead of using one flat colour. Combining lighter and darker shades instantly creates a more expensive, multi-dimensional finish AND is perfect for these summer months to allow for natural colour fade ☀️

✔️ Tone: This is where so many extension techs go wrong. Two colours can be the same level but completely different tones. Warm, cool and neutral shades all behave differently, and choosing the wrong one can make the blend look obviously fake. 🙃

The best colour matches don’t happen by chance - they happen because you understand how colour works.

I’ve spent years creating goals, building businesses and constantly wondering if I was doing enough. But ya know what? It’s taken time but I’ve realised that success isn’t about having the biggest salon, the most followers or charging the highest prices..

It’s about building a business that gives you the life you actually want. Otherwise honestly? What’s the point!

For me, that meant reflecting on my life and making some difficult decisions this year…

For someone else, it’ll look completely different.

And that’s exactly how it should be, there is enough success for all of us.

Let’s spend less time comparing and more time celebrating 🤍

The reality is… I LOVED building my salon. But there were parts of being a salon owner that slowly chipped away at me, and nobody really talks about them.

Everyone celebrates the opening day, the busy diary, the team photos and the “success.”

Very few people talk about what happens behind the scenes.

The nights lying awake wondering how you’re going to cover payroll.

The pressure of knowing every decision affects someone else’s livelihood.

Having to make difficult conversations look easy.

Feeling guilty for taking a day off because your mind never really leaves work.

Watching people come and go, despite how much you invest in them.

Smiling through the stress because everyone expects the owner to have it all together.

And sometimes… feeling incredibly lonely, even when you’re surrounded by your people.

For nearly 10 years I poured everything into building something I was proud of & ya know what? I don’t regret a second of it…
It taught me resilience. Leadership. Confidence. It gave me friendships, opportunities and memories that have made me who I am today 🫶🏻

But it also taught me that success isn’t just about building a business…It’s about building a life you actually want to live.

Closing my salon wasn’t giving up.

It was finally choosing myself ✨

And if you’re in the thick of running a business right now, feeling the weight of it all… you’re not the only one.

Sometimes the bravest business decision isn’t holding on.

It’s having the courage to start your next chapter.

April ☀️

Slacked on the socials this month because there is ALOT going on behind the scenes and my little brain has been in pure overwhelm - but here is a few of my fave moments from the last month…

From taking on a lot more colour & traditional hairdressing services (which I am loving 🥺), to beautiful stennies, spending time with my favourites and enjoying some bloody good food 🖤

May & June are set to be just as chaotic, trying really hard to not feel guilty for avoiding the socials and just living life - might be back posting more regularly soon, who knows 🤣
