What a day! I’ve been contacted about tutoring Politics—my absolute passion, especially since it’s my degree! Now juggling whether I can take also two more History students.

Had a fantastic session with one of my History IB students today, focusing on source skills, particularly Question 2 (OPCVL). I always recommend regular 10-minute practice sessions to build confidence for the exam!

I had an another great session with my IBDP1 student today. He seemed a bit unsettled and nervous at the start, as he has a test next week on Paper 1 skills and missed yesterday’s lesson on the Q4 approach with his class. I adjusted my lesson to focus on his immediate needs, reassuring him that he is capable of succeeding.

We went through the necessary skills and approach, emphasizing the synthesis of sources, incorporating his own knowledge, and demonstrating a clear, well-reasoned opinion. I also shared my personal strategy for Q3 (compare and contrast) to help him maximize his marks.

Sensing his insecurity about the paper, after the session I prepared an exam-style practice paper for him to complete, which I will mark before his test. Additionally, we reviewed my personal Paper 1 tips for success to further build his confidence.

Another fantastic online 1:1 session with one of my History IGCSE Edexcel students based in 🇪🇸 ! We focused on Paper 2: Investigation and Breadth Studies, specifically the Depth Study: China: Conflict, Crisis, and Change, 1900–1989.

While the student already demonstrated excellent knowledge and understanding, we worked on refining exam skills and tailoring her written responses to align perfectly with the mark scheme criteria, ensuring she can secure full marks.

We also delved into extract-based questions, focusing on forming impressions effectively for Topic 7: Civil Rights, and practiced expressing these clearly and concisely to maximize marks. A highly productive session!

Moving from Hong Kong to Spain midway through her IGCSE exam year is no small challenge, but I’m excited to be part of her journey and make a positive difference during this important time.
