We were really glad to be able to hand deliver one of the 'Engineering Excellence Awards' to a local college for the first time. The team from City College Norwich built one of the best engineered CanSats in this year's CanSat competition and we really hope this is the start of a lot more participation from East Anglian institutions in the national competition, as the region is woefully under-represented at present with only two or three teams from the rgion entering this year out of 370 total teams across the UK.

Our Year 2 T Level Mechatronics students kicked off the week with a huge celebration, receiving two certificates recognising their performance in the CanSat competition! 🥳

The CanSat involved designing and building a simulation of a real satellite in the form of a can. Our team were the first in the past three years to successfully design and implement a safe and fully functioning landing mechanism in their CanSat - a massive achievement!

Students were awarded their certificates by Ben Jarvis, who is the CEO and founder of Launch Access Ltd - the launch service provider for the UK CanSat Competition.

Congrats team! 👏

With the finals delivered and final photos and report being submitted this week, Launch Access are proud to have delivered a fourth year of CanSat UK! We are very hopeful that 2027 may see some expansion of our CanSat activities to a wider audience, building on the 60+ events, over 500 launches made and over six hundred student teams we've delivered for in the past five years.

As the final report is submitted, another year of CanSat UK comes to a close. With the new 3-rail launch pads and Jackdaw 2 and Jackdaw 3 rockets that carry 2 CanSats per flight, we were able to fly over 150 teams at the regional launches this year, making over 100 flights across eight venues.

Launch Access very much hope to be able to expand on CanSat and deliver an even biggger competition next year if we can!

With the finals at Elvington in Yorkshire taking place last week, Launch Access have now successfully completed another busy year of CanSat on behalf of ESERO UK, STEM Learning UK and the UK Space Agency.

Well over a hundred rocket launches were made from six different launch sites across fourteen launch days in March and April with an even higher success rate for the student built satellites than we had last year.

Congratulations to the winners who's stereo mapping camera system was a seriously clever piece of kit, and to all the hundreds of students who entered this year.

Through March and April this year Launch Access Ltd delivered the largest scale educational launch campaign the UK has ever seen. Making over a hundred rocket launches from seven different launch sites across sixteen launch days we flew CanSat payloads for thousands of students from schools and colleges across the UK.

We're so proud to have been able to make such a difference to the UK space education arena and look forward to delivering many more such competitions and events for the UK space sector in the future.

Big thank you to the BMFA for hosting one of the ESERO CanSat regionals, and for the shout-out too! It was a day of 'challenging weather' but 100% successful and the amazing facilities at the site really helped make it so.

Launch Access Ltd had an amazing time supporting Norwich Science Festival this year with three days of stomp-rocket workshops for hundreds of children and families. We can't wait to get more opportunities to deliver these kind of exciting events locally or nationally, introducing children of all ages to the basics of rocket-science and inspiring an interest in STEM.
