💚💛 Meet our School Council for 2026–2027!

A huge congratulations to our newly elected representatives, who will join Head Prefects Fionn and Heidi to help shape Darland’s future.

We have an exciting year in store for them! From bringing forward fresh ideas and discussing what matters to students, to working with staff on improvements across school, they’ll have a real voice in making Darland even better for everyone. 🗳️✨ Thank you to everyone who put themselves forward and cast a vote. We can’t wait to hear their ideas and see what we can achieve together!

Where Better Never Stops.

🍫 Things have been getting deliciously creative in Food Technology!

Everyone started with the same rocky road ingredients, then added 100g of their own favourites — from cherries, Maltesers and honeycomb to Kinder and Colin the Caterpillars! 😋 All worked independently, practising their weighing, melting and mixing skills while keeping their workspaces clean and organised. So many tasty combinations — choosing a favourite would be impossible! What a delicious treat for the start of the weekend!

🛴 E-Scooter Safety
We are sharing an important reminder for students and families about the use of privately owned e-scooters.
Although e-scooters are widely available to buy, they cannot currently be ridden legally on public roads, cycle lanes or pavements. They should only be used on private land with the landowner’s permission.
North Wales Police also have powers to issue warnings and, in some circumstances, seize vehicles where e-scooters are being used inappropriately. Please help us keep our students and wider community safe by making sure e-scooters are used responsibly and legally.

🧠 October is ADHD Awareness Month
At Darland High School, we’re using this month to raise awareness, improve understanding and celebrate the different ways our students think, learn and experience the world.
ADHD can affect attention, organisation, impulsivity and activity levels, but it can also be associated with creativity, curiosity, energy, resilience and the ability to bring fresh perspectives.
Every young person is different, and the right understanding, encouragement and support can make a huge difference. We are proud to promote a school community where neurodiversity is understood, individual strengths are recognised and every student has the opportunity to thrive.
💚 Ambition, Resilience, Respect, Courage and Kindness

✍️ Happy National Poetry Day!
Today we’re celebrating the power of words, imagination and creativity across Darland High School. Poetry gives us a chance to play with language, share ideas, tell stories and express what matters to us.
We’re looking forward to seeing the amazing poems our students create today — we know there will be plenty of imagination, originality and brilliant ideas! 💚💛

This October, we are proud to mark Black History Month.
Throughout the month, students will be learning about the achievements, stories and lasting impact of Black people in history and in the world today. Through lessons, discussions and activities, we will celebrate Black excellence and reflect on the importance of equality, respect and inclusion.
Black History Month is a valuable opportunity for our school community to learn, reflect and be inspired together, while living out our values of Ambition, Resilience, Respect, Courage and Kindness.
Better Never Stops.

🌍🧁 What a brilliant Darland Bake Off! 🌍🧁

To celebrate the European Day of Languages, our fantastic Student Language Ambassadors once again organised a European-themed baking competition — and the entries were amazing!
From Portuguese pastéis de nata and Swedish kladdkaka to Ukrainian cheesecake, French fraisier, Basque cheesecake, florentines, Dutch butter cake and much more, our students really impressed us with their creativity and skill.

Visitors to our Open Evening chose Ffion's fantastic Pasta Cake as the best-looking entry, with Ella’s Curly Wurly Eiffel Tower Cake and Eliot's Bee Sting Cake close behind. 🎉

The following day, our Language Ambassadors took a selection of cakes to Rossett Hwb, where a community judging panel faced the very difficult job of choosing the best-tasting bake. Eliot’s Bee Sting Cake was crowned the winner, with a special mention for Alice’s delicious Greek Baklava. 🐝🍰
A huge bravo to everyone who took part. We are so proud of the imagination, effort and talent on display! 💚💛 Hwb Yr Orsedd

What a truly special evening we had at William Aston Hall, Wrexham University, as we came together to celebrate the achievement, talent and success of our students earlier this year.
Our Annual Awards Evening is always a wonderful opportunity to recognise not only academic achievement, but also the determination, creativity, commitment and enthusiasm our students show across school life. It was fantastic to see so many young people being celebrated for making the most of the opportunities available to them and for everything they contribute to the Darland community.
We were also privileged to be joined by Wrexham AFC legend Mickey Thomas, as well as students from our fantastic Darland Learning Community cluster primary schools, helping to make the evening an even more special celebration of our wider community.
A huge congratulations to all of our award winners, performers and students involved. We are incredibly proud of you all.
