YEAR 6 SHIRT SIGNING - Everyone is always keen to sign the Year 6 shirts. We wish all of the Year 6 children the very best as they take their next big step in life's journey.

MUSIC CONCERT - A few photos from our recent music concert, in which every child from the school performed. There was lots of singing, with each class singing a song that they had learnt during Arts Week. The choir sang some of their favourite songs. The children who have been learning the guitar, ukulele and the recorder all played some tunes for us to listen to. Finn and his mum even played a duet on the flute and clarinet. It was a mega musical extravaganza!

YEAR 5/6 HANDBALL - Fantastic play from our handball team, who were placed 2nd overall in the locality handball tournament. They played 5 matches altogether, and won four of them. There were some brilliant goals scored, balls hitting the post, and some amazing saves by our goalie. The games were exciting to watch, with everyone encouraging each other and demonstrating great teamwork.

'LITTLE RESEARCHERS' - A representative from 'The Little Researchers Project', came into school recently to work with our Year 1 children. The children had been learning about germs and how to keep themselves healthy. They found out how well they washed their hands, and what effect food and exercise had on their body.

YEAR 2 ARTS WEEK - Inspired by the work of Sally Prangley, the Year Two children have created 3D sculptures of birds. They used paper wrapped in tin foil to create the body and head, and then covered this in clay so that they could decorate it. They used wooden skewers to join the head and body together and to make the legs which they put into a polystyrene base. Creating the structure of the bird was quite tricky, so the children had to use their resilience skills to keep trying.

ARUNDEL WETLAND CENTRE - Our Reception children had a fantastic day exploring the WWT Arundel Wetland Centre!
We enjoyed a peaceful boat ride, spotting damselflies, fish and a coot, and learned some fascinating facts about the wildlife, including the owlets living in the bird boxes and the incredible journey of the reed warbler as it migrates to Africa before returning to almost exactly the same place it was born.
The children also loved our mini-beast hunt, discovering a small stag beetle, millipedes, centipedes and many other insects, before taking part in a pond dipping session where they showed great care and respect for the wildlife.
Despite the hot weather, the children were brilliant, keeping cool in the shade, taking plenty of drink breaks and making the most of a wonderful day of discovery and adventure.

Redwood had a lovely afternoon, sitting in the Spiritual garden making Indian paper friendship beads. These were made to to celebrate the value of friendship in our wonderful world.

At the start of the week, Ms Lyle spoke to the children about the remarkable resilience of animals, with a particular focus on insects. It was a fascinating insight into the strength and adaptability of minibeasts, and a source of inspiration for us all. Throughout the week, the KS2 children worked alongside her to create their own bug sculptures using a variety of recycled tops and wire. The finished pieces look fantastic and showcase both creativity and perseverance. Well done to Ms Lyle and all of the KS2 children for their hard work and impressive achievements.
