What a lovely Wow day Redwood class is having, celebrating their topic on the Ancient Greeks. We started the morning watching a short animation about Theseus and the Minotaur, followed by the creation of their own labyrinth. The children then decorated stones with a symbol representing Athens or Sparta. We are looking forward to this afternoon’s workshop, facilitated by Divergent Drama. The children look absolutely amazing in their costumes. Thank you to all Redwood parents for their support and helping children with their outfits. We even had a Trojan horse in the class.

ARUNDEL CASTLE - What fun the Year 1 children had exploring Arundel Castle today. They learnt all about what life was like living in a castle - they should be very tired after all the stairs they have climbed up and down! They loved the dressing up workshop.

ARUNDEL CASTLE - The children in Year 2 had a great day out, and learnt lots about what life was like living in a castle. They enjoyed looking round the castle, and had lots of flights of stairs to climb up and down, including spiral staircases. They particularly enjoyed the dressing up.

EARLY YEARS - Our new Reception children have settled in brilliantly, and it already feels as though they have always been part of our Ash Class family! They are growing in confidence every day and are loving their time with us.
We have been busy exploring, creating and learning together. We’ve picked our own apples and blackberries and used them to make a delicious apple pie! We’ve also been crafting like you wouldn’t believe, creating book characters from all sorts of materials, including cardboard, wool and much more.
The children have created a beautiful planter to brighten up our outdoor space and, whenever possible, we’ve been outside enjoying our wonderful environment and making the most of the beautiful autumn weather.
We have also begun our phonics journey, and the children are already loving it!
It has been such a wonderful start to the year, and we can’t wait to see where their curiosity takes us next!

REDWOOD WOW DAY - Due to an open day at St Oscar Romero's on Wednesday morning, the drama workshop has been moved to the afternoon, allowing all children to take part. Children may change into their costumes on arrival back at St John's. We apologise for any inconvenience the reorganisation of this day has caused.

YEAR 3/4 BASKETBALL - Well done to all the children who came along to the Angmering basketball workshop and mini matches. Everyone had a great time, and you could really see how much their skills had improved by the end of the session.

MAKING JAM SANDWICHES - The children in Year 1 have been making and eating jam sandwiches - yum yum. They are going to use this experience to help them write some simple instructions, so that someone else can make a jam sandwich too.
