A huge thank you to everyone who has supported The Little Learning Room and joined me for summer 1:1 sessions over the last few weeks.

It’s been so lovely to welcome so many familiar faces, as well as some new learners, and to see everyone continuing to learn, grow and have fun throughout the summer!✨

A year ago, this was just an idea.

I spent months wondering whether I should take the leap, questioning whether I was good enough and whether anyone would choose me to help their child. I didn’t tell many people that I was even considering it because I doubted myself so much.

Looking back now, I don’t think I could ever have imagined what this past year would become.

I’ve met the most incredible children and families. I’ve celebrated milestones that might seem small to others but have meant everything to the child who achieved them. I’ve watched confidence grow, seen reluctant learners become eager to learn, and been reminded every single day why I became a teacher in the first place.

This message from one of my families arrived tonight and it genuinely stopped me in my tracks. It is a reminder that learning is about so much more than reading, writing and maths. When a child feels safe, understood and believed in, amazing things can happen.

Starting The Little Learning Room has reminded me why I fell in love with teaching all those years ago. It’s given me the freedom to be creative, to teach in a way that puts children first, and to build the kind of environment I’d always dreamed of creating.

As I come up to one year of beginning to build this business and as we get ready to move into a bigger learning space, I just feel incredibly grateful.

To every family who has trusted me, supported me, recommended me and believed in what I’m trying to build—thank you. You have all been part of this journey, and I can’t wait to see what the next academic year brings ☀️

One of our final group sessions of the academic year and we definitely finished with a fast-paced challenge! 🏒❄️

Today we tackled hyphenated adjectives with an ice hockey theme, exploring how words like fast-paced, ice-cold and high-scoring make our writing more precise and engaging.

There’s something so special about watching children learn through creativity, teamwork and laughter. As we head towards the summer break, I’m so proud of how far every child has come this year ❤️

So proud of my small groups this evening! 🌟

Tonight we tackled ordering measurements, converting grams to kilograms, addition with decimal points and applying all of those skills with growing confidence.

The progress they’re making is fantastic to see.
Not every child finds these concepts easy in a busy classroom, and that’s okay. One of the biggest benefits of learning in a small group is having the time, support and encouragement to ask questions, make mistakes and build real understanding without pressure.

As their confidence grows here, it starts to shine through in school too – and that’s when the progress really takes off. Watching those lightbulb moments and seeing children believe in themselves is exactly why I love my job ☀️

🚀✨ To infinity… and beyond with phonics! 🤠💚

Learning to read should be fun, and this week’s Toy Story-themed group was full of games, laughter and confidence-building phonics activities that had everyone engaged from start to finish.

If you’re looking for a supportive, small-group session to help your child grow in confidence with reading and spelling, I have just a few spaces remaining in my Friday 4–5pm phonics group.
